What happend to Brad Nicholson?

I know im really really(really) late on this, but i missed why he left or what happened, could anyway just fill me in? Thanks

I think he had a set of trolls PMing him all the time about how terrible his articles were.

Patrick came on as a full time news guy and Alex started writing more articles and I guess Nicholson just wasn't needed any more. He was a freelance guy filling a gap. Rather badly if I do say myself but thats just my opinion.

On one of the Electric Hydra Podcast's he said it's a pretty big site.

The staff decided it was time to get someone who could actually write articles and stop torturing us with his "news".

Brad was fine as a newsman.  
 
Patrick is great, but Brad wasn't bad.

They did a drive by on him. Some one photo shop a picture of that please.

Patrick Klepek fills his role now. Also, users here were total dicks to him.

Completely forgot about that guy. Really speaks about his quality of news.

He got too buff. Kept breaking keyboards with his typing.

Brad Shoemaker ate him so that he could be twice the Brad.

On his everlasting quest for the newest muscle milk, he found the holy grail.

He evolved into Patrick. In the process, he sacrificed muscle mass to curl his anubian locks.

Why the fudge do people hate on Brad Nicholson? I mean, it's not like Patrick StarTrek is doing tremedeously better.

Contrary to popular belief, "Brad Nicholson" wasn't a real person, but rather an automated script that Ethan wrote to pull various innocuous headlines from other websites and copy them onto Giant Bomb. "He" was basically an RSS feed for the servers.

Wouldn't it be cool if people on the Internet could show even a little respect or decency to a guy that was just trying to do his job instead of shitting all over him every time he gets mentioned?

I'm just working on my comic delivery. I have no hate for the guy.

He managed to bench press so much weight that physics actually stopped working but for a blink of an eye, letting him see into the radiant glow of God himself as space and time collapsed around him.

Patrick researches and writes original content. Nicholson just aggregated news reported on other sites, sometimes days old. The quality of their efforts couldn't be more different, honestly.

Did we ever see what he actually looked like? His profile pic just made him look angry at the world.

Patrick does editorial pieces.  Brad mainly just did current events.  I found both fine and adequate am was also confused by all the hate.

To be honest Nicholson did a favor by filling in the void of content on this site during that time.   The giantbomb staff weren't really loading the site with front page content most of the time and we'd probably only get 1-2 articles a week from them and a few quicklooks.  I thought the hate was not warranted because it was neither bad nor good.  Just giving us headlines from the video game industry to read while we waited for some content from the giantbomb dudes.  But yeah with Patrick now the fulltime guy he was not really necessary anymore.  

Nicholson's job was to mainly to write on the big headline news, and not to really "report". He was there to fill the gap that was left when the main Giant Bomb dudes became too busy to be writing several headline-driven articles a day, and essentially, why Nicholson was hired. 
 
Klepek is an actual newsperson, though. He does reporting and coverage, which is something not even the regular Giant Bomb dudes ever did.

Don't know why people hate Nicholson so much. He wasn't supposed to write original materiel, it was his job to aggregate and fill the downtime with something. It was kind of cheap and boring by nature, but nothing about it was offensive.

Eh, he didn't really even do that well. His posts were usually days later, filled with typos and grammatical errors, and at least on a few occasions I noticed, included inaccurate facts and misinformation. Whatever the purpose of his writing, he was being paid as a writer, and he wasn't doing it well.

99% of dudes on the Internet are dicks, or trying to be dicks, because they don't have the guts to be dicks in real life.

I had no problems what so ever with Brad. I am using GB as my primary Game-news-whatever-site, so he definitely had a useful role here for me.

My main issue with Brad's article on how late they were. Usually a day or two late so I had no willingness to discus them

I agree with the bolded. I didn't much care, but I thought they could do better, and they did.

I had no problem with the guy, but I never read any of his articles, usually just got (and still get) most of my news from Rock Paper Shotgun.

Brad Nicholson did a more-or-less competent job of a boring task (news aggregation) that he was probably compensated poorly for. Users resented him because he was hired to produce filler and he produced filler. Their ire was misplaced, as it often is.

Patrick Klepek is doing a decent job a somewhat less boring task for which he was hired full-time.

That was exactly his job though, so hating on him for doing what he was supposed to seems a little unfair.
