What if video games had a bible or... Scripture?

 Like this, but not.

What a strange world it would be.

There would be scripture written, but misunderstood through time. Interpreted many times over... until everyone thinks they own it. You would have revolts, factions and so on.

What if film had a bible? Fuck that, video games are real.

well who would the video game version of Jesus be?

If it was the Master Chief I'd probably be atheist.

@davissc9: I vote Tommy Vercetti.

If that happened you'd have tons of zealots rabidly defending the Word whenever possible with totally unreasonable arguments... oh, wait, we totally already have that, don't we?

The Scripture goes deeper than Jesus... deeper than Abraham.

Master Chief could be a different interpretation of the scripture. Be aware.

If video games had a bible, I'd be the author.

I don't even know what I'm getting at.

This was arguably the most terrifying thing I've ever read...

Okay, but he's a bit two dimensional. Having said that, Gordon Freeman.

@davissc9: But more importantly. Who would be the video game's  Westboro Babtist church?

 You gotta have it.

If video games had a bible then video games would not change. People would not want to stray away from the tradition and holy text of the bible. It would either be the best thing ever or the worst.

Claude, whatever you're smokin', keep it the hell away from me.

And the golden rule?  Though shalt be a douche about whatever flavor of the month game you've played, and defend it unto thy death bed.  Go, multiply, and prosper, fanboys.

Games already do have a Bible, it's called Pursuit Force: Extreme Justice.

Also, in before angry anti-religious dicks ripping on Christianity.

I feel like Ctrl+Alt+Del had a storyline about precisely this at one point, not that it was any good or anything.

This site would be the church then and you have to play video games 5 times a day.

#29 Posted by Sparky_Buzzsaw (6094 posts) -

I also think a personal commandment to me would be, "Thou shalt suck at every game you think looks incredible.  And you shall deeply enjoy strange little games no one in their right mind should enjoy playing."

Probably me. Jesus was King of the Jews, I'm King of the Games. Simple, right?
