There has been much rumbling over whether or not Prince of Persia has toppled Mortal Kombat, the previous consensus pick of "least bad video game movie," and is now the reigning "least bad video game movie". I figured I'd put it to a poll.
I'll watch Prince of Persia when it comes out on DVD, but my preliminary skepticism says Mortal Kombat wins this one.
What is the best movie based on a video game?
I really dug Prince of Persia. I'd most definitely watch it again, and I could see myself making a Blu-Ray purchase if it hits like $15 or less someday. It felt like a legitimate movie, not just a "video game adaptation". Even though I barely remember Mortal Kombat, I can safely say that PoP was probably the more enjoyable "movie-like" video game adaptation. Though I can see why people wouldn't like the movie- it's dumb, bloated, nonsensical summer action movie fluff.
" Personally, I thought the Silent Hill movie was the best game to movie adaption yet. The Resident Evil movies are fun too. "This, although the second Resident Evil movie left a bad taste in my mouth. The Silent Hill movie was good though, for sure.
If we're talking about ones inspired by actual video games I'm gonna go with Silent Hill.
If we're talking about movies inspired by video games in general I'm gonna go with Shoot 'em up.
I've always thought Mortal Kombat was the best movie adaptation of a video game, with Silent Hill coming in second.
Silent Hill had the potential to be one of the better, if not the best, movie adaptation, had they not screwed with the story.
