I'm American and will be turning 21 in a few weeks. I don't drink very often but plan on keeping some handy in case friends or whoever drop by.
Do you guys recommend anything in particular?
What kind of Liquor do you keep around?
Cant go wrong with some good scotch.
MacCutheon whiskey is also amazing
(ten bucks to the person who gets the reference.)
And of course, beer, lots and lots of it, preferrably Sam Adams or yuengling
Crown Royal is a good Canadian whiskey, but its a little pricey. A cheaper alternative that is just about as good is Canadian VO.
If you like a smoky tasting liquor then scotch is a good bet and Johnnie Walker Black Label is a good brand.
As far as beer goes I think that a good place to start is with Yuengling or any sort of local lager.
I have a bar at my place so I cannot remember everything thats in it but its got a range of stuff.
-Beer (stubbies): Tooheys Extra Dry Platnium,
-Beer (mini keg): Heinikken or however you spell it
-Cider: Tooheys 5 seeds, come with the above,
-Guiness,
-Tequila: Monte something or other,
-Jack Daniels,
-Johnny Walker,
-Midori,
-Ouzo or however you spell it,
-Chivas Regal,
-Baileys,
-Bunch of wines I couldn't name.
Ah I can't remember the rest of it, theres a bunch or stuff but it never really gets touched. These days I would be lucky to have a beer or two in a week. I mostly just sits there for other people and party or guests when they come over etc.
- A dark spiced rum like the captain, or Sailor Jerry
- a $30 +- bottle of bourbon, scotch, OR whiskey. (Makers, Johhny Black, or gentleman jack)
- a bottle of vodka smirnoff grade and up. If catering to lady friends stopping by, shoot for a Three Olives or Van Gogh flavored vodka. Consider storing it in your freezer.
- Rumplminze or some other form of 100 proof menthol schnapps, will be all the cold medicine you'll ever need. Keep in freezer too.
- Find something esoteric to keep as a conversation piece, like Berenjager (honey liquor), or something with a scorpion in it.
i am a tequila man myself although many don't like it. easiest thing to mix for people is vodka or rum.
Bottle of Jack Daniels and a bottle of decent red wine should start you off; everything else depends on you and your guests individual tastes
" None. "Pfffph, you mean you don't need to artificially enhance your mood to have fun?
Cognac (Brandy): Hennessy Paradis, Richard Hennessy, Hennessy Ellipse, Louis XIII de Rémy Martin, Rémy Martin Extra, Camus Borderies XO & Delamain Réserve de la Famille.
Beer: Stella, Heineken, Corona, Creemore & Hoegaarden.
Vodka: Chopin & Belvedere.
Tequila: Gran Centenario Leyenda, Cabo Uno & Gran Patron Platinum.
Scotch: Walker Blue (1805 and King George V Edition), Walker Old Harmony & Macallan 57 Lalique.
Champagne: Dom (Vintage '90 and '95 are personal favourites), Krug Brut Blanc de Noirs & Armand de Brignac (Blanc de Blanc & Rosé).
Wine: Too subjective.
Rum: Gross.
Gin: Oxley is relatively new, but the best I've tried if you can find it.
I'm somewhat of an alcohol snob, however, any of the aforementioned would be tremendous pickups if you enjoy sipping alcohol.
Most of these are way expensive, but well worth it!
I usually keep something like Evan Williams and Bacardi 151 lying around, 2 drinks most people are usually afraid to drink.
Cheap, shitty vodka. As cheap as I can buy. The horrid taste acts as a natural deterrent -- only palatable when I'm already determined on getting shitfaced.

I also recommend this advice. I should mention my father died almost two years ago at age 54 due to near-lifelong alcohol abuse." Personally, I'd recommend you don't start drinking just because you're turning 21. That's just my own advice. "
I should also mention I'm currently drunk. :\
A little bit of everything, can be found in my home bar. Along with Heineken and MGD on tap. Some absent too, for show. I dont drink the crap.

Because maybe" Cant go wrong with some good scotch. MacCutheon whiskey is also amazing (ten bucks to the person who gets the reference.) And of course, beer, lots and lots of it, preferrably Sam Adams or yuengling "
You're gonna be the one who saves me ?
I drink way more wine and beer than anything else. A bottle of hard alcohol will last me at least two years, but I usually do have some laying around.
I have a bottle of good vodka in the freezer year 'round. In the summer, I keep a bottle of tequila and margarita mix handy. I also usually have a bottle of gin, but I'm one of the only people that ever drinks it. Rum's not bad to have, either, since a lot of people like rum and coke. When I was in Peru, I bought a bunch of pisco, so I have something like 6 bottles of it. I now have no idea why I bought it, since we never drink it. I suppose we'll make pisco sours at the wedding just to get rid of the stuff.
" @calidan777 said:The trick is to put it in the freezer and let it get really fuckin' cold, then it's alot smoother. I love the way it taste and can drink the shit hot but I know most people don't really like how it tastes so the the best bet is drinking it really cold. That's some brutal shit I'm straight-up afraid to fuck with. Always have a 6 pack of lucky for when Im playing CounterStrike. I dont know how people play that game without alcohol.
Bottle of Kahlua is good for the morning after / mixed with coffee.
A very drinkable beer is good to have on hand, Amberbock is plain, and refreshing.
For a change of pace, go with New Castle, Guiness, or a Rogue: Dead Guy.
If you're a lighter fan, you can' t go wrong with Heinekin, Stella, Grain Belt, or just straight up Budweiser/Coors.
Hard stuff to have on hand...
Crown Royal
A light rum (for the ladies)
Some Grey Goose, or any other triple distilled vodka
Wild Turkey: Honey
Cranberry Juice, Raspberry, etc... Club Soda, Coffee, Cola, Tomato Juice... lemons, mint leaves, celery, pickles, olives etc...
