What's your thoughts on interracial relationships?

(Just curious on peoples feedback)

Me personally I think finding love with anyone is a beautiful thing. Some people might have a problem with other people dating outside there race. I think those types of people can be simple minded, and hold some type of resentment. My cousin has found herself in that type of situation before.

She's black and her boyfriend is white. Now she gets along with her boyfriend's family just fine, but as for his friends not at all. Apparently they like to make sexual and racial jokes about her. When her boyfriend brings them around her she gets very uncomfortable.

She discuss the issue with her boyfriend and he noticed. He believes they're more jealous if anything. One time she ended up calling the police on one of his friends, because he touched her in inappropriate way. After that incident her boyfriend decided to not talk to his friends anymore. They've also came across people that didn't like there interracial relationship.

For me its just abunch of drama. Everybody was raised to view peoples nationality in different ways, it could either be for the good or worse...

Those people are called racists, and are a bunch of backward idiots who should be shunned from society. Sure there might be problems with different cultures, but if two people love each other none of that should matter.

My thought is the same with any relationship. But that doesn't mean that when I see a cute girl with a different colored partner I don't, instinctively think something to myself, or do a double take, just as im sure other people look at my weight.

But what makes us civilized is the ability to hold those thoughts back, and to learn about the people, and motivations behind them.

It's 2013, we should be past stupid shit like this.

Plus interracial couples are good for the overall global genepool. Even science is on their side!

Love is beautiful no matter what form it takes. In fact, love in the face of such "differences" and social hardships may be even more so because it reaches a deeper level and understanding beyond just the physical and it shows that they truly value one another. It sounds like what your cousin has is wonderful. <3

I might just be very biased on this whole "it's okay to be in love with a person even though doing so may cause trouble for both of us" thing because hoping for that is one of the few things that keeps me from going totally bananers.

Never cared. My observation though from my local area is that most of the white girls I've ever seen around here are almost always with a non white boy. Even my sister has dated more non white guys than white. My dad used to care back when we were kids. I accidentally let it slip that my sister was dating a black kid and he got all up in arms about it. Though I guess she had already broke up with him and didn't even last a couple days. Now though he doesn't give the tiniest bit of a shit.

Edit: Just woke up. What I was trying to get at is most nobody really cares around here save for some. Mostly traditional Mexican and white dads. It's always the dads though.

I think that most people, even though few will ever admit it, think that people should only date inside their own race. I personally think that's silly and if you care about someone it doesn't matter what they look like. That said, I think it can be rough and kind of feel a little sorry that they are going to have to deal with weird looks when out in public and potentially parents/family that are racist who think it's wrong and refuse to accept them.

Unless you live in an extremely racially diverse area I find theres always a kind of weird way people react around someone who is not the widespread race of that region. Like everyone is always on eggshells afraid they will say something that will be construed as being racist and getting them in trouble.

Also people find different people attractive. It has to do with spreading your genes around. Its why people sometimes get the urge to move to a faraway place, or to travel. Its because, of a need to spread the gene pool, as opposed to mate with the same people over and over again.

But killing racism will not happen over night, it might not ever happen. But we can try.

You really can't control who you fall in love with. And even if love has nothing to do with it I don't get why you couldn't get kinky with someone from another race or the same gender. I have a couple of somewhat racist relatives and I've tried to understand their point of view on several occasions but find it absolutely impossible.

Unfortunately, some people feel they should judge someone else's relationship based on superficial bullshit. They think that their opinion or belief matters at all when concerned with someone else's love life. Prejudices will always exist in some form. Hopefully, one day, we as a society can get past some of the more stupider ones.

Really though, it's just great when someone can find love and happiness with another person.

Interracial relationships are a non-issue and the fact that certain racists mock or oppose them in the year 2013 is shameful.

Probably not in my lifetime, but I can't wait until interracial relationships are just called... relationships.

As long as both partners are comfortable with it then I don't see how it matters at all. In fact, interracial couples are so accepted, that my friends actually think I'm racist for not finding black women attractive.

I don't think about it. Both of my sisters and all but one friend are/were in interracial marriages.

I'll just put it this way. We are all responsible for our own decisions. So, if one wants a relationship with a person of another race, then that's their own business. Even if you don't like it, it's going to happen whether you like it or not... because it happens everywhere! Except that you're arguing from a completely counterfactual premise. Mating across the entire population of a species increases genetic diversity, not the other way around. Two parents with greatly heterogeneous genomes will give birth to an offspring of even greater genetic diversity compared to the overall population. Two homogeneous parents will risk compounding harmful mutations. This is why inbreeding is a bad thing, and why siblings and cousins having children is especially bad because it increases the risk that any familial recessive traits are carried over from both parents, resulting in a genetic disease.

And no, a lot of isolated populations spread across the globe of great heterogeneity between the groups will still not protect as much against a disease as a large population of greatly heterogeneous individuals. In a worst case scenario f an extremely lethal disease this might mean that one of the smaller groups has a larger population carrying a beneficial mutation resulting in more survivors in that group initially compared to the large group, but it also lowers the chance of any group having the mutation in the first place - the more genetic mixing, the greater the chance of a protective trait being either carried over or created

Sure, interbreeding will lead to a higher degree of cosmetic homogeneity because a lot of those traits are recessive or mosaic. But it's just that - cosmetic. The underlying genetics will be more heterogeneous. The real way of lowering genetic diversity is by having one small group significantly outbreed the other groups and over generations achieve considerable numerical superiority and then have it outcompete the remaining groups.

Interracial relationships are the complete opposite of that.
