Trying to imagine what Earth will be like in the year 3000 is impossible, because the things that go on in the year 3000 will be as unintelligible to us as the Microsoft Anti-Trust Lawsuits would have been to Joan of Arc.

I don't know, in the 1950's it was believed everyone would be driving flying cars and using teleportation devices by the year 2000.  Instead, we have the Prius.

Why the hell would you want a planet that was just a city. And Coruscant was sickeningly low-tech. The "Star wars future" (technically past, but oh well), is full of mundane utilities for fantastical things, a callous disregard for physics and a lack of imagination."

As much as we like to fight one another, and screw around with genetic engineering and such, I doubt there will be much life on Earth in the year 3000 -- save a few million roaches. We'll either blow ourselves up, or engineer something we can't get out of .

I doubt we'll really even be on Earth anymore, since our resources are quickly going south. I bet we'll find a new home planet to use as our 'Earth' and we'll colonize out from there. The only ones who I'm guessing will still be on Earth will be like the Stranded in Gears of War, who missed the last spaceship to our new home and have to make due in the wreckage and rubble of Earth until they eventually go extinct.
