Haha! I was doing almost the exact same thing 13 years ago working for my university. Except it was fark.com and slashdot, since Giantbomb didn't exist and all. And 4:3 CRTs of course.

Yup, I do IT phone support for my university. If someone can't access their email, for example, they call us and we help them. I'm stuck working Friday nights this semester and while it sucks, we get zero phone calls.

same here! IT job at my university as well. had it all 4 years and while the job makes me feel worthless and not fulfilling my potential to work hard and be productive, its probably going to be the most fun job i will ever have.

Does that not get boring? If i were you i'd try spending my time doing something more productive once in a while.

Also white theme sucks.

I actually got used to the white site without even realizing it because it's the default theme and I often forget to change it back to black. I feel like they've made a lot of improvements to it over the years.

@expensiveham: Yeah it does, but compared to the shitty jobs I've had in the past I can't complain. I usually don't mind taking calls. It's satisfying to actually help people, they're usually very thankful.

@wolverine: Glad to hear that you are being treated with respect. You hear a lot of horror stories from people working in IT.

I more or less do the same thing. I work from 4-8:30 two nights a week doing tech support with a couple other guys. We rarely get called. It's wonderful.

But are you an english major? =P

I am in fact! Very few people I work with are actually majoring in CS/IT.
