Well, what do you guys think. I anticipate a flood of responses because there is a lot that is wrong with that network.
The one thing they actually do right: Adam Sessler, and that's about it. Morgan Webb is okay as well, but they need to get rid of people like Blair Herter.
What Would It Take To Turn G4 Into A Respectable Gaming Network?
" More half-naked women, and big c talking about drifting. "Oh god, have you seen that Sexy Ladies Show? Its so bad and it exemplifies everything that is wrong with that network.
Have more than two hours a day dedicated to games when they call themselves a gaming channel would be a great start.
About four years ago G4 changed and took most of there really great shows about video games off the air and really only kept X Play and ATOS. They need to get rid of those pathetic shows that are practically soft core porn and bring back great shows like Icons which was like the history channel for games.
" Take off all the non-video game shows. Cheaters is a fucking retarded show. "I know how many reruns of fucking Cops and Cheaters can they show? They must run out some time, I mean holy shit!
Get rid of the crap.... And by that I mean the whole program schedule...
Put some good stuff back on
What ever happened to Elec Playground and actual information about games?????
" @ververdan0226: Little do you know I was completely serious. No one wants to watch a channel devoted to video games, not me anyway. I feel so lame watching people talk about games when I could just be playing them on the very same television. "I agree to a point, that is why I like AOTS. It has many segments about video games but ventures of the subject while still catering to the same audience.
" Get rid of the crap.... And by that I mean the whole program schedule...Put some good stuff back onWhat ever happened to Elec Playground and actual information about games????? "Electric Playground went all Canadian and its a damn shame. I liked Victor Lucas...
I think it is a totally respectable network. Nothing on a national broadcast will ever be as "Hardcore" as users on this site would like. They do a great job on tech things when you just shut your eyes and imagine what it would look like on MTV.
So if you are reading this you already dont get most of your gaming news from G4. I just dont have a problem with the network.
" @ververdan0226: And apparently Tommy Talarico is too busy making video game music... "Also, a damn shame.
I really don't think a gaming TV channel is appropriate. Any gaming need is covered on the internet with podcasts and written material. G4 has nothing good going for them last time I checked beyond Adam as a talent, and Kevin seems like a cool guy with a bad show.
- get rid of cops and other old shows (dothey still show CHEATERS?)
-Give Adam some sorta Friday night show of his own.
-Cover MLG because I'm sure a lot of people will get into that kinda thing
-have a real reviews show because X-Play is too ridicules and is for 15 year olds.
-Stop showcasing Olivia by having her lick PSP's and jump in giant pies, go watch some damn porn or get a girlfriend. However, I'm sure A LOT of you will disagree.
" No one watches a channel about video games. "Yeah, but I'd at least like to see them be done justice in the mainstream.
Respectable gaming content. Their one true videogame show I know of is XPlay, and while I value Adam Sessler's opinion greatly, the rest of show, as I have seen it, normally degenrates to jokes about gamers or jokes about interns. It's been a long time since I've seen it, so I'm not exactly sure how true that stands today.
Besides, there is absolutely no need for a 24/7network about video games. It made at least a little sense back when it was a mashup of tech *and* video game news, but not enough happens in the gaming world to merit 24/7 coverage. That is what sites like Giant Bomb, Joystiq, Kotaku, Destructoid, 1up, IGN, etc. exist for.
" @ververdan0226: Fuck the mainstream. Get on the internetz, read the gaming news, and play the games I say. "... (sniff)... I'll try......
Get rid of any show that has nothing to do with video games. Make a news show starring Adam Sessler (kind of like the Soapbox except 30 minutes) and just create more shows that the gaming community care about.
The internet exists, so TV of any kind aimed at the internet generation is already a bad idea. The crap they show is there to get the dimwits and casual gamers that buy a 360 for Madden and teh Haloz. Anyone that enjoys video games is on sites like this or talking about games on social sites.
G4 was a good idea 5 years ago, and it was a fairly good channel, now it's victim of technology and progress. GT TV on Spike is at least decent, and it's short.
Alot of people here seem to have the same idea that there is not need for tv channel devoted towards video games. While I am at home I'd rather be playing video games than watching a channel about them. I do appreciate that an effort was made to bring video games to a more mainstream audience, but based on the programming they show now on G4, it is very clear that it is not working out.
For now I think its best that video games should be covered on the internet rather than tv, because it's just more practical. I visit G4's website along with many other gaming oriented websites a hell of alot more than I watch G4 on tv.

- A revised Arena would make the show much better. (As long as they aren't playing fucking Unreal and Socom. I'm so tired of that bullshit! Oh, and CoD2.)
- Electric Playground minus the douchbaggery. I didn't mind the show other than that one guy, Tony?, who thought he was "all that."
- Get rid of Attack of the Show and bring back Screensavers, or the earlier incorporation that existed before AotS.
- Get rid of all the crap. Cops, Cheaters!, and all the other bullshit.
- Bring back the old Cheat!. I despised the guy a bit before, but he's much better than the current agonizingly annoying woman.
I'm not in America, but it feels so dumbed-down when I see stuff from it. I mean, people say they'd rather just play games, but do you play games all the time? I don't so much anymore, it'd be cool to watch something like that but trying to appeal to a niche again instead of the drunken fratboy demographic and take a break.
- Bring back Screen Savers
- Do a show like Endurance Run, where two-three guys sit on a couch and play a video game for a week or two and do the MST#K style running gag commentary.
- Sorry, Richard, but Cheaters has got to go.
- Host a hour or so talk show where you have industry peeps come on and talk about fucking games. No giant pies, no comedy sketches (expect about swedish candy) but dudes who knows game talking about games on a games network. Like a podcast but more structured.
But as someone already said this will never happen as they feel they must appeal to the lowest common denominator, who demographically LOVES cops.
"Morgan Webb is okay as well"After E3, I can't stand anything that comes out of her mouth. She's the kind of person that if she doesn't like it, no one else should. Very much gets under my skin.
i have to say that they changed because G4 company wanted more viewers so they changed the concept. i use to post on G4 forums all the time. i would like to watch a channel on video games. it shows great things like previews of upcoming games, reviews, trailers.
i miss a couple of years ago coming home and watching G4. i liked how every time around 4 or so there would be a new episode of something. i miss the shows like pulse (video game news), g4tv.com, cheat, x-play (funny one with interns), arena (random people play video games and win stuff) , icons, cinematic, judgementday (review). some of the ones that i could think of the top of my head. those were great times. i felt bad when i watched the last episode of g4tv.com.
G4 has sold out. If they really want to redeem themselves they'll have actual hosts that really know stuff about video games and stop using sexual innuendo at a pathetic attempt to get viewers. Unless they're aiming for an audience of horny 12 year olds without an internet connection stupid sexual references like gadget pron or that sex talk on the streets shit they do on ATOS is just immature and not entertaining whatsoever.
If it wants to be a Gaming Network.....
1) Get rid of the boobs and sex
2) Get rid of the Cops
3) Get rid of the Spike /MTV esque shows
4) Put stuff related to gaming on it.

I remember on Tech TV there to be a 1 hour Tommy Tallarico and Victor Lucas reviewfest, it was Judgement Day then Reviews on the Run. Then EP came on, then stuff like Icons and Cheat!. They had MLG once in a while. Then there was the Screen Savers and Call for Help. Even that Cinematech show was better than the crap on G4TechTV today. What happened to X-Play? I can't even watch it anymore. I remember when it used to be sweet and they had actual funny skits and reviews. There review of Big Rigs was nearly as funny as Alex's for Gamespot. They weren't so full of themselves and it felt like they actually cared. Their Splinter Cell Chaos Theory skit about Bob and Steve was pretty good too. I don't know or even care if that's on, it just won't be the same.
I miss Leo Laporte shows. The Lab with Leo was really informative. I learned a lot of stuff and he got me into investigating Linux.
RIP Tech TV...
They have to get rid of crap like Unbeatable Banzuke and Hurl!. Who honestly wants to watch people stuff themselves with food then throw up? Not me! Don't even get me started on Attack of the Show!. The only time you can watch actual gaming and tech shows it at 3 in the morning. The Lab and Call for Help are on at 3 and 4AM.
" Take off all the non-video game shows. Cheaters is a fucking retarded show. "fo sho. It seems like they are trying to be like spike t.v. or something. I don't like spike t.v. too much, there are a few good shows I guess. Anyways yeah, less retarded spike t.v. style shows plz.
" @Wolverine said:I have to agree. The old X-Play some so much better. Speaking of old X-Play:" About four years ago G4 changed and took most of there really great shows about video games off the air and really only kept X Play and ATOS.
