In the year 2060 I would be a 68 year old man, I imagine that I would still have a good 25 years left. So, what would video games be able to do? What would cars be able to do? From seeing that Xbox 360 controller free thing at E3, I imagine virtual reality could be possible.
You think there will be holograms? Vacations in outer space? The second coming of Jesus?
Post your thoughts.
What would technology be able to do in the year 2060?
Most people can't accurately predict 2 years from now. All bets are off for that long. Mankind could be nearly wiped out or we could be flourishing, we may be in the stone age or nanotech, there may be freedom or tyranny. Here's some of my guesses if tech moves at the current rate :
Humanity will have less freedom than now. Everything will be 'big brother', but most will consider this an improvement over the nuke terrorist attacks, of which there will be several. Over 100 million will have been killed by nuclear terrorism.
Video games will have reached graphics absolutely indistinguishable from reality by 2030.
Human-equivalent AI as we see in sci fi will still be a good 100 years off. Robots will be able to handle more daily tasks but most people will only have basic ones for stuff like vacuuming.
Visible spectrum 'cloaking' devices for tanks and airplanes will be widespread. They will also be able to cloak infrared, and only effectively detectable by bouncing powerful x-ray blasts off the objects.
People will have brain implants for math assistance and networking access (for fact lookups).
Laser weapon for long range firearms such as snipers will be possible. With computer assisted targeting, snipers can hit targets with pinpoint accuracy miles away.

"@Austin said:You kids? Aren't you 17? ""@torus said:68 isn't really that old, actually it's kinda of young. I don't know why most of you kids think anything over 45 is "Teh Oldness!" "" If you will be a 68 year old man...Urgh, that's depressing."
If there was a video game that could jerk me off, scratch my back, and feed me chocolate and booze all at once while reciting quotes from Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and Monty Python and the Holy Grail... I'd be a happy man.
It's the simple things in life, such as this, that could potentially make life awesome.

ah to be serious, hopefully medicine in the future will be better...cures for things we cant even imagine
In 60 Years, Milo would've finally have become self aware.
Even though I'm generally a humanitarian, I think it would be pretty interesting if some wild shit went down in my lifetime (you know, nuclear war, worldwide pandemics, chaos, etc). Not that I would survive- I would probably be the first to be bludgeoned to death by the ignorant mobs.
