Fear itself.

Or giant spiders.

#6 Posted by UlquioKani (840 posts) - 4 months, 28 days ago

Dying alone.

Being a disappointment to my father.

I'm incredibly scared of unfamiliar dogs and It looks weird when I stop in the middle of a street when there is a dog in front of me. It's like they can smell my fear.

I'm 24 and have never read a Harry Potter book. Now imagine yourself 5 days ago. Somebody asks you what your Boggart is. You don't know what a Boggart is, but that person doesn't explain it. That's how I feel right now. I hope you're happy >:(

I will assume that you're talking about things that scare us shitless, so I'll say doves. Birds in general, but doves especially. Those fuckers are mean.

You know, it was a pretty shitty crossover...

Alligators, holy shit. I dunno what a Boggart is, but my biggest fear is alligators by far.

#9 Posted by dungbootle (2258 posts) - 4 months, 28 days ago

FYI: A boggart is a creature that takes on the form of your greatest fear, either literally or symbolically depending on what it is.

#10 Posted by Senno (74 posts) - 4 months, 28 days ago

It's weird, but I have an irrational fear of vacuum cleaners. I can't explain why.

#11 Edited by awesomeusername (3272 posts) - 4 months, 28 days ago

Falling from great heights. When I get on rollercoasters and stuff, I almost piss myself because I feel like it'll fall and kill me.

Now I want to vacuum your house. Every day.

#14 Posted by L44 (491 posts) - 4 months, 28 days ago

Getting stuck in something and never being able to get out.

#15 Posted by mlarrabee (1878 posts) - 4 months, 28 days ago

I'm just here to say that the name "Boggart" was chosen for the same reason airmen in the fifties called unidentified and presumed hostile aircraft "bogeys." Inherently formless and no clear threat, but still disconcerting. Just like the "boogeyman."

And I've never read any Harry Potter. I just played a lot of Microsoft Combat Flight Simulator: WWII Europe Series as a kid.

Sharks terrify the living shit out of me, so definitely them.

#20 Edited by Canteu (2212 posts) - 4 months, 28 days ago

@Unilad: I hold no fear of Death. Of Human, nor animal. I hold no fear of physical disease.

But namely, I hold but two fears.

Blindness, and mental Illness.

These two, are but my Boggarts.

Actually, yeah. If the rest of the world could see my 13 year old self, I might die of embarrassment. I was a fuckin' little weirdo. Luckily I don't think that particular fear will ever manifest.

#24 Posted by ccfox (2254 posts) - 4 months, 28 days ago

I'm terrified of tiny insects - I have no idea why. I know they cannot harm in any real way, but as soon as one enters my line of sight I literally get a rush of adrenaline I'm ashamed of having. If it had to be one thing though, it would have to be the Kraken. I honestly have an un-healthy fear of the sea and have hallucinated many times (to the point of terrifying my scuba-diving trainer when I fainted) whereas I'll see a huge silhouette of a giant squid/octopus.

Ugh.

Tornadoes man. I always get scared when I hear tornado warnings.

And I freak out every time I see a hornet. Fuck those evil pieces of shit.

I know this is a weird one, but I'm super scared of Angels. And now this forum is the only collection of people on the planet who knows that.

Why would I be so foolish as to reveal such information?

#30 Posted by Tireyo643 (5720 posts) - 4 months, 28 days ago

My loved ones dying in front of me is my fear. I've already experienced it several times, my dad being the worst coincidence.

#31 Posted by WasabiCurry (356 posts) - 4 months, 28 days ago

Fear of disappointment in my life.

Fear of losing my family and loved one.

Fear of bees. Oh my goodness, NOT THE BEES!

#32 Posted by Veektarius (2792 posts) - 4 months, 28 days ago

A giant wasp. Probably in the shape of, like, a mud dauber, even though they're hardly the most threatening of wasps. Had a nightmare about that once. One landed on my face.

#33 Posted by Giantstalker (1263 posts) - 4 months, 28 days ago

Losing my job.

Fear of being alone. Not like being alone in a room or house for awhile. I love that. More in the way of having no one or nothing to go to. Or spiders. Fuck spiders.

#39 Posted by hooberschmit (23 posts) - 4 months, 28 days ago

@Senno: Are you my dog?

#40 Posted by BaneFireLord (2358 posts) - 4 months, 28 days ago

Many snakes. Not one gigantic snake; just many, many smaller snakes, a gigantic writhing mass of rattlers and cobras and black mambas rolling across the floor like a Katamari ball from Hell. Either that or mental illness, afflicting me or any of my friends or family members.

#41 Edited by TyCobb (1164 posts) - 4 months, 28 days ago

I would say my only real fear is dealing with big spiders. I am not afraid of spiders in general, but always afraid of big ones when I have to deal with them. Scratch that being my only one -- just thought about those damn carpenter bees. Those things scare the hell out of me when they fly around me in the summer. They are so damn big here in California.

#42 Edited by Unilad (271 posts) - 4 months, 28 days ago

I just realized my ultimate fear....

I can deal with buffering....

I can deal with adverts...

but I can't deal with buffering adverts

therefore...buffering adverts are my ultimate fear....they are my hell.

#43 Posted by RandomInternetUser (6779 posts) - 4 months, 28 days ago

Deadly spiders kinda suck, but my biggest fear is never being able to have a decent job that I don't hate where I make enough money to live comfortably and have enough on the side to some day take a trip around America hiking/camping in beautiful places.

#44 Posted by M_33 (515 posts) - 4 months, 28 days ago

Giant empty expanses with absolutely nothing as far as the eye can see on all sides. Oceans suck.

#45 Posted by Vexxan (4577 posts) - 4 months, 28 days ago

I am both fascinated and terrified of sharks. Put me in unknown open water and I'd probably faint.

#46 Edited by Onced (102 posts) - 4 months, 27 days ago

Has to be dentists. Don't know what it is, but they're one of the most terrifying things a person can encounter.

Dying alone or having some kind of bug crawl into my ear and lay eggs. Probably shouldn't have thought of that last part jus before going to bed. :/
