I'm a sucker for Power Metal personally.
Cool trivia: The town in WoW called "Hammerfall" (is it still there?, i haven't really explored catacylsm) is named after the power metal band "Hammerfall"

I like all music equally. Except Rap. Rap is crap. There are a couple rap songs I like, but there is no other genre of music that I find so completely terrible as rap music.

I like hip-hop/rap. It comprises most of my music collection. All eras and all styles except the current dirty, autotune type stuff. I don't like that at all.

The type I can hear.

I like really sugary pop-punk like Dude Ranch era Blink, the first two Simple Plan albums, New Found Glory, Bowling for Soup. I also like Eminem exclusively for rap music and some of the forefathers of punk like Bad Religion and Rancid. Garbage is amazing (not to mention Shirley Manson is hot), and I'm a sucker for punk cover songs especially 80s music (Me First and the Gimme Gimmes does an amazing Mandy as well as Uptown Girl).

Never been much for metal but I get a sweet spot for Disturbed or the random rock station song by bands I don't care enough to remember the name to.

Country music can suck an egg...I will not will not in the rain or in a tree not in the dark while you pee. I do not like it Sam I Am, I'd rather choke on Green Eggs and Ham.

I will listen to almost any style, but the music must be experimental or progressive to some degree.

#15 Posted by Kandycane2029 (511 posts) -

Mostly Ska and punk. I don't really listen to a lot of music though.

Black Metal, Rap, and Math.

Post hardcore is the genre that ends up cropping up a lot in the music I listen to. Thrice, Thursday, Underoath, Funeral for a Friend. Other genres aren't really as pronounced for me. Basically a mix of alternative music, stuff as light as Yellowcard or Biffy Clyro or as heavy as Brng me the Horizon. I play the piano and acoustic guitar so I listen to quite a bit of that, listening to new age piano right now, Einaudi.

#21 Posted by HisDudeness (252 posts) -

As of right now, my favorite genre would probably be rap. Honorable mention would go to ska-punk, which I actually don't listen to a whole lot but holy shit do ska-punk bands know how to put on a good show.

@McNugget:  I call that Dubstep filth (Brostep)... some dub-filth is alright. You know, some of them are well produced quality tracks. But most of them are really bad. Like really really bad. It just seems like their trying to make tracks as fast as possible. And they wonder why it gets haters.
Then you get stuff like this.

Which just blows that other bad stuff out the water. But it might be that you don'thave good bass speakers or a decent bass sound in your headphones.
Still nowhere near as agood as

Jazzy Hip Hop

Or any Hip Hop that is calm and chill really.
#44 Posted by BestUsernameEver (4825 posts) -

Hi ho Hip Hop Hypocrisy and tumble junk rock. Also, Beat sniff (only some beat sniff songs without the horrible twang box vocals and vibrate guitar frills) and loose trill vibe bluegrass grunge is good too.

#45 Posted by icoangel (47 posts) -

mostly punk lately, lots of Ramones.
#46 Posted by Capum15 (4872 posts) -

Eh, it switches between a few and their sub-genres, mostly Electronica (like Pendulum - Drum & Bass for example, but I'll listen to most electronica), and Symphonic/Power Metal (Nightwish, Sabaton), some Rock and occasionally rap.

As of right now, it's mostly been Drum & Bass (Pendulum).

#47 Posted by Yanngc33 (4496 posts) -

Gospel :p

Any rock that comes from the 70s or 80s is good.

#48 Posted by Dethfish (3640 posts) -

Thrash Metal use to be what I primarily listened but over the past year or so I've definitely branched out into other stuff as well. I really like DnB, House, Dubstep or pretty much anything like that. I really like Pendulum.

The occasional J-pop/K-pop is nice too.
