Big deal for me :  cable internet is good, satellite internet, not so much.

Speaking purely of TV, satellite TV compresses HDTV signals far more than cable does, so while they may have more stations, the quality is much lower.

To be honest, I've pretty much moved completely away from both of them. Over-the-air HD and a broadband internet connection (cable) is pretty sufficient for me.

I guess it depends on where you're at.  The reason why I like satellite is that we get better reception than cable even when it rains or snows.  We would always get these annoying sun spots when we had cable.  On a certain channel we would get a CB radio interfereing with the program.  Once we got satellite, everything is crystal clear.  All the problems are gone!  That's why I like satellite.

I used to have satellite TV in New Zealand, and it was always getting fucked up due to solar activity and stuff, I prefer my cable internet here.

satellite, only because comcast is the only cable company in Philly, and its a fucking ripoff and im stuck with it because they have a monopoly on the Phillies, Flyers and the 76ers. they do the shittiest business too, and their internet service (which i also use) seems to just take the day off sometimes.

I am waiting for FiOS to be available in my area then i will get finally get rid of comcast. Oh, and their HD is mediocre too, satellite HD looked much better, especially when I had DISH.

In the UK, satellite has more channels so I'd say that it's better. I, however, have cable.

Cable, because even if I don't have as many channels, the ones I do have are better and the picture is more clear. Plus, it's bundled with my excellent phone service and absolutely fucking amazing internet.

Cable, when I had satellite the slightest rain would make it go out, and  trees were to close to my house so that would cut it out too, so we had to cut them all down.

Have had satellite for 6 years. Had it professionally installed on its own post, and I dont even get so much as a flicker when its raining cats and dogs or snowing. HD is fantastic.

However, I wish I could get cable ONLY so that I could get broadband internet. Stupid fucking cable company hasn't run the lines yet.

I forgot to mention that our bill lowered $60 when we switched to satellite, and we even got twice as many channels.
