I like all music to a degree but the only genre that I 'm actually passionate about is hip-hop.

I'm not a big fan of rap though, and yes, there is a difference.

You have a good list of Hip-hop, Hexpane. I prefer what would now be called "Old Skool" but the gang-era, the transition from hip-hop to rap, offered a few gems in the genre as well.

Other. I couldn't pick a particular genre if I tried. Although I am less fond of folk and opera, not exactly a fan of line dancing or song lyrics in foreign languages.

Never understood the confusion of hip hop as a genre of music. Its the culture that hip hop refers to. But that's beside the point. Rap was the first genre of music I ever listened to and its been my favorite from the start.

Considering that Prog Rock isn't really considered as Rock, I'll stick to other.

Nor is Jazz = Blues.  So I can't pick that.

QFT. Face it or not, the rap you see on the TV is the same genre of rap from the 90's, just crapified. And I like everything, but rap will always be my favorite love child.

Rock, mostly classic rock, modern rock as well.  Also, some alternative (90's) I like.

Also, blues and jazz are great and on my playlists a lot.  I would also say folk because Bob Dylan is one of my favorites, and I like classical too.

I still voted for rock though.

That's a list I can get behind.  Although I'm not a huge floyd fan they have a few tunes I can groove on baby. I'd have to throw Rush in the prog rock list, Rock band has made me a fan of a band I've ignored for decades

I have stuff in my iTunes from just about every genre here minus Latin. I'm at that stage in my life where just about anything I hear with good rythym that isn't totally terrible I like and want to listen to more of.

I don't limit my self to one genre of music.... I love Metal (Opeth, Mastodon, Megadeth, Meshuggah, Dream Theater etc..), Punk, Grunge, Industrial (NIN) ..basically all kinds of Rock except Pop (Fallout Boy etc.).  Some 90's Hip-hop and Reggae, Classical, Electronic .. just about everything that sounds good to my ears.

Uh, I don't really like the idea of confining myself to a specific genre, but I guess you could say my favorites are. Prog Rock, Hard Rock, 90's grunge/rock Soundgarden, Rage Against the Machine etc. Jazz Fusion and Regular Jazz. And for thinking that jazz and blues can be lumped into the same group you deserve a smack in the face, they are two completly different things.

Rock in general, but if I have to be specific, mainly indie rock mixed with alternative, some electronica, a dash of new prog, a splash of pop and Britpop, a smidgen of shoegaze, and a hint of ambient lo-fi dance-punk.

Ouch.
