Mostly post-punk Alternative/College rock from the 80s & 90s. Pixies, Superchunk, Dinosaur Jr., The Replacements, Jane's Addiction, Sonic Youth, The Afghan Whigs, Jesus and Mary Chain, Siouxsie and the Banshees, 10,000 Maniacs, Stone Roses, Pavement as well as the usual cast of Seattle grunge.

In that tradition, some newer bands, too.  The Subways, Wombats, Silversun Pickups, Land of Talk, Magneto, Headlights, Broken Social Scene, and Tokyo Police Club.

But, in truth I listen to everything.  The music of Public Enemy, Neil Young and Crazy Horse, the Allman Brothers, Bob Marley, Carol King, Nat King Cole, Earth Wind & Fire, Dizzy Gillespie and Sara Evans can all be found on my iPod.

I voted for Jazz though, because John Coltrane's A Love Supreme is the finest album ever recorded.  Like a Jackson Pollack painting or the works of Stravinsky, it is a masterpiece of unparalleled complexity and soulfulness.

Damn >_< I wish I'd seen this before I cast my vote.

I went for metal because that's what I listen to mostly at the moment. Obviously this does not represent my musical tastes exclusively.

I'm surprised a number of people picked Classical (like me).  And it makes me warm inside knowing no one picked Country.
