I'm going with D, I don't dislike the band but never go out of my way to listen to them or anything and I'm not familiar with the difference between the two eras.
Who did you prefer in Van Halen?
i saw them live last summer in philly, they fucking rocked with Roth. they made good music with Hagar, and really showcased their talents, but they totally lost their kick ass, "sex, drugs and alcohol" attitude that got them famous in the first place.
oh...and we don't talk about the cherone days.
"I prefer Eddie Van Halen, but given the choices I choose David Lee Roth".........

"Lots of people love the Hagar van halen, but they are all stupid. Only the roth van halen is listenable, and they are probably the most over rated band of that era anyway. A good guitarist and drummer, yes, but a LOT of bad filler songs."and thats even funnier! they only ignited an entire generation of copycats throughout the 80s. and what bad songs do they have? sure some aren't great, but all of their songs are pretty decent. i mean, come on now you can't even compare some of their worst songs to a lot of the music of the 80s.

"I'd rather hear Eddie's guitar than hear Roth's or Haggar's voice. is that clear?"*cough* he meant the singer *cough*
I prefer David Lee Roth by miles. They were at their rockin' best with him, and I don't like the love ballads that were plentiful with Hagar.
I saw Van Halen with Lee Roth last March. Amazing. First time I saw them, but I was blown away. They all still got it in them.
