Emi Evans, she's what made the nier soundtrack incredible (and her band is pretty dope too)
Who's the musician with your favo(u)rite voice?
@Little_Socrates: I can sort of see where you are coming from but I never ran into that issue myself, and yes a gorgeous voice. Otis and Marvin were both wonderful also. Any thoughts on Nat King Cole? Such a soft beautiful voice, which suited the many 'love' songs he performed.
Don't have an issue with Michael personally but wouldn't class him as a favourite of mine.
@Master_Funk: No irony here whatsoever, I really do enjoy Jeff's voice in Midnight Brown; though I think it is likely based on familiarity and what I associate his voice with when I hear it. Similar situation with the Suburban All-Stars, with Ryan, Alex etc.
Keep posting as new ones come to mind.... Craig David.
I would drop him if I had to fill out a 'definitive' favourites list but I can't deny his talent. Much prefer traditional Rhythm & Blues to its contemporary cousin, but Born To Do It really was a remarkable debut.
...Randy Newman. Best known for his film work, especially with Pixar. He has done some fantastic film scores but also some great albums too. Nice voice and an extremely clever writer.

The lead singer of deer tick or the lead singer from Of Monsters and Men
Are Of Monsters and Men a big deal where you live? just wondering..
Either Joakim Nilsson from Graveyard or Opeth's Michael Akerfeldt (will see them live on Monday SQEEEE).
Jagger; not a great singer but i enjoy the pronounciation
others would be
Alison Mosshart from the Kills
Neil Young
and i actually really like Dylan's voice
Iggy Pop has a great low register, and Johnny Cash;
also Prince for range
@IkariNoTekken: It was never really an "issue" with Michael, just something he had to work past on most of his songs. Nat King Cole is someone I've had extremely limited exposure to, but the talent and restraint in everything I've heard is supremely impressive.

Hatsune Miku.
Miku ain't got nothing on Sharon Apple!
Speaking of Sharons, my favorite vocalist would be Sharon den Adel.
Lead singer of La Dispute for me, I don't even really listen to this style music often but I can listen to La Dispute whenever because of the vocals.

william seidel. look him up.
i'm unfashionably quoting myself here, but having just followed my own "look him up" advice i found that the best work by my suggestion is not really easily obtainable. His band Camden and their album 'Reel Time Canvas' are amazing, and not very easy to come by these days, apparently. anyway, it's good vocal work. i'll also second anyone who may (or may not) have mentioned Jon Thor Birgisson of Sigur Ros, Justin Vernon of Bon Iver, Thom Yorke of Radiohead, Claudio Sanchez of Coheed & Cambria, Torquil Campbell and Amy Milan of Stars, and Peter Gabriel. and to the bloke who posted Eric Bachmann/Crooked Fingers... Yes! I'm not sure i would call him a great vocalist, but he is my favorite musician ever. cheers.

King Creosote
Well played. You've just reminded me of an artist I totally forgot in my post on best Scottish artists, do like King Creosote a fair bit.
Meanwhile thought of another name for this thread, Cedric Bixler-Zavala of At The Drive-In & The Mars Volta fame. Liked his voice since first hearing it.
Mike Patton, Neil Fallon, Layne Staley are definately up there for me too, but my favourite vocalist for delivery without a doubt is Daryl Palumbo
also iv always loved Deftones, mainly for the music, but Chino's voice just resonates with me
Sufjan Stevens. He has such an incredible voice. And a recent obsession of mine has been Ben Howard, whose voice is incredible.
And I would never pass up a chance to rep an extremely underappreciated band: The Oh Hello's. They have four songs on Bandcamp for free, I highly suggest checking them out!
I like my singers to have a style of their own, and to that end, the best singers for me are:
David Byrne - Talking Heads
Fred Schnieder - B52s
Freddie Mercury's the easy answer, only because he was that damned good. This Live Aid performance is one of my all time faves.
