Will Deadmau5 ever be bigger than Daft Punk.

    Just read a great article of Deadmau5 earlier today and it seems that this Joel Zimmerman's popularity has ASSPLODED since he did his the VH1 awards earlier last year. He seems more popular now then I can remember Daft Punk ever being. Yea, I know what your thinking "Well some bands are just more popular than other bands Michael, Get over it." The disturbing part of all this is that Daft Punk is/are(?) the greatest techno group ever, not a whole lot people are going to argue that.  
    So is the perfect example of todays modern music "scene" (I hate using the word "scene") is the proof that people taste in music of all genres has devolved over the years. Now I don't hate DeadMau5 or anything he's on the playlist I'm listening as I type this post, but let's face musically (as musical as techno can be) Daft Punk is a better band I mean they made a fucking movie about the Discovery album. That goes a long way in this argument I think. 
    Not just looking at the whole Daft Punk vs. Deadmau5 battle (which is not what the blog is about!) I just wanted to point out people devolution over the years when it comes to musical taste.

Possibly. I know that Deadmau5 is quite well known to the mainstream. I can't quite say if his material is up there in the classics department, but he can possibly become just as popular or more popular than Daft Punk in the new decade. 
 
Daft Punk hasn't really released any new content aside from the Tron OST either.

I'm going to say no. Until deadmou5 is able to only have concerts every 4 years and still sell out a outdoor arena there's no chance. Daft Punk is legendary for a reason.

deamau5 blew up before that vh1 noise. hes in the past already sorry. yes they were bigger then daft punk to.

Deadmau5 is only one dude.So aside from releasing his work in stupid little bits and not putting it all on a CD, he really doesn't have more than a couple memorable songs.

Basically, whenever Daft Punk ends up releasing a disappointing album (and eventually they will,) if Deadmau5 releases a great album, he will instantly crush them. 
 
Otherwise, Deadmau5 will fade into obscurity. Currently, he's got his backburner popularity going strong, though.

Deadmau5 is not bigger than Daft Punk amongst all my friends who are into that sort of music.
Me personally, I like Daft Punk more, even though Deadmau5 is pretty great, especially for mashups.

Perhaps. Daft Punk don't seem too keen on touring these days, something Deadmau5 did non-stop last year (I had the pleasure of seeing him live, he was great). I'd love to see them work together on something.

Deadmau5 is too popular to be ignored but too average to be noticeable.

i think we are forgeting about how awesome JUSTICE is. they could be bigger than daft punk(or as big) 
 
Deadmau5 seems to be a more  mainstream artist

i just want them to do a collab CD.  or at least one song.  i dont see why daft punk and deadmau5 fans have to be so seperated.  they're both genius in different ways.

I didn't even know there was some kind of battle between Daft Punk and Deadmau5 going on. For the record, no, Deadmau5 is not touching Daft Punk anytime soon.

deamau5 could die for all i care.  i just really dislike this genre of music. doesnt make sense to me whatsoever

Daft Punk > Deadmau5. But mau5 makes good music. He has basically made his own genre in the electronic sides of things but Daft Punk will always be king. 

New album sucked, just sayin'.
