It's been a while since I have had to download an unzipping tool so I was wondering what the best one is? For a while I used Winrar under a trial version (I beleive, anyway. It prompted me whenever I opened it to buy the program). I'm, of course, looking for a free version to unpack WoW add ons.

I used WinZip in middle school, then WinRar in High school but the whole trial thing never sat well with me. Now I use 7-Zip.

@Lost_In_Gaming: Use WinRAR. You can use it for anything.

Don't open it to unzip your compressed files, just right click and select "unzip X to Y" and unzip it that way.  No messages to buy.  Free, better compression than any competition.

I'd suggest looking up Winrar 3.51.  It's a free version of Winrar they released a few years back, and I've been using it ever since.

Definitely 7-zip. Does everything WinRAR does, and it's free and open source! YAY!

Winrar is good for most uses but seems to have corruption issues when opening larger archives (e.g. >4GB). For those you need Winzip.

I used Winzip for a while in the late nineties. I've been using Winrar for over a decade now. Man, time flies.

7-zip for me. WinRAR is nice, but in a few cases, it refused to open archives, especially 7zip archives.

i use winrar. for some reason they don't do anything about the buying , trail version over thing. i actually think that you can download a addon thing so that message doesn't come up without buying it.

7-zip for me, too.  Sometimes it'll give errors extracting rar files that winrar doesn't, but it's still my main thing to use.

I have both of these installed.  I've never run into a problem unpacking something.
