Dude, I've known Jen since she was like 14. I haven't ever known her to dress in a sultry manner until here recently. It's odd and out-of-character for her.
I also don't think it has anything to do with confidence because Jen is a strong, successful woman in her own right. And coming from what she came from that's saying something.
It's not like she's short of men who would do anything for her at the drop of a hat.

If it had happened at a random time, sure I could see that. But Tina gets introduced to us and the three of us start hanging out, and then slowly Jen starts looking more and more like Tina.

I'm just talking simpler. Say Jen used to wear crew-neck tees, like maybe one of her boyfriend's t-shirts. But now she wears womens' v-neck or scoop-neck tees. They show a little cleavage, but it's not going all slutty. Based on their ages, based on what I've seen from a few of my own friends, and based on how I've seen myself change over the last decade... I'd say that something about Tina is making Jen is simply realize she's a woman too, and maybe dressing like a woman gives her more confidence. You can say she's strong - a woman can be strong, but that doesn't mean she's confident in how she looks, especially when compared to other women. I'm sorry if that doesn't make sense. But I've been there, on both sides of it.
And don't stress too much about Jen dying her hair. Fact is, she probably will at some point (if she isn't already). Doesn't mean she'll go with some crazy new color. Women don't like graying before we're anywhere near middle-aged.

@Fajita_Jim: So the only conclusion you can draw is that it is a contest? I'm just not seeing where you're making this logical leap when it's more reasonable to assume that your friend just wanted a change in style.

You're also missing a lot of information that I have. As I said in my original post: long story short. I kept the topic of conversation focused as it were so we didn't get caught up in all the little silly details that matter only when discussed in context of their personalities, which is a discussion too long and personal for this forum.
I simply cut the fat and boiled the discussion down to it's simplest format. I haven't told you everything and I'm not going to, but the point of this post wasn't necessarily asking for comment about THESE women, just about SUCH women. I was more looking for additional anecdotal evidence than for a discussion of these two women.

There's really any number of reasons she could be dressing the way she is. Being confident doesn't automatically mean females where more revealing clothing as vice versa, it all depends on the individual. I dress the way I dress because it suits me; I keep myself covered for the most part, it's quirky. and it's completely for me. But other females have there own reason... there's no one universal answer :)

You and your friend are both right. Women are in competition with each other for the affection of men, and vice versa. Men fight wars, obsess about penis size, and generally act like fools all for the pussay. Women accentuate the bits men like with clothing, engage in inter-sexual subterfuge, and generally act like fools all for the dickz.

@Fajita_Jim: I'm talking specifics because you're very specific about the people you're talking about and as such I'd say that in order to talk about such women you'd have to prove that this case is indeed a valid case for which to start such a discussion. Of course I'm coming from this from a place that thinks that this is untrue and that you're reading far too much into this situation. In any case, you're correct, she is your friend and you would have a better point of reference for her actions I just think that you're incorrect.
Or to put it from my own experiences I have never known a woman that would drastically alter her appearance in order to compete with another woman and I think it's a silly, nonsensical, fictitious thing.

Come on that's cheating. Or I don't see what you mean. The clothes have very little to do with it in these two pics. The hot one has pigtails and make-up and she's done her nails and she's posing in a casual, friendly stance. The frumpy one has not bothered with any of that and her expression is hardly friendly. Perhaps that's what you're trying to point out.
I really don't get what your perspective is, but I agree that it's not about classy vs trashy. Tina is probably just giving Jen a confidence boost. However that is working psychologically it's probably for the best. I don't think the OP needs to worry about Jen turning into Tina, and if he's not involved why does he care anyway. Clearly he wants some of Jen, but maybe would he have a go at Tina if Jen calmed her down? WHAT KIND OF CRAZY SOAP OPERA IS THIS?
Edit: I also think that women probably dress in much the same way as men do in that they dress to a personal standard to which they have been conditioned throughout life. To dismiss women as an enigma is fatuous, everyone is complex.

Feel free to disagree, I'm not here to beat my opinion over anyones head. I just find it...strange...that when women want to dress to impress a man so many of them seem to think there's only one direction to go in: more skin.
Perhaps that's more of a fashion industry thing, perhaps not. I'm not female and don't understand fashion anyway. I'm either in jeans, boots, a T-shirt and (during cold months) a rawhide coat, or a 3-piece. No real in-betweens.
So yeah I'm a fashion dud, but I love a dress on a woman. As far as I'm concerned, save the skin for the lingerie. But that's me....not you.

I wrote a post, but I realized that it was extremely cruel, and that I couldn't in good conscience give my thoughts, because it might be seriously offensive to the people in the pics Melcene presented.

You mean wife beaters?
I don't wear wife beaters because they're not flattering to me. In fact, I don't wear tight clothing at all because it does nothing to show my strong points. My muscles are defined by default, because I'm so thin. In fact, I have a 6-pack without hitting the gym a day in my life because I just have no fat to cover it up.
@example1013: Lucky you then, lots of men still think they have a good body even tho they can't do a single push up without gasping for breath. It doesn't suit everyone but as I said, dress to your strong points, it makes you confident and confidence is the sexiest thing there is.
