The first goal of the World Cup was...an own goal from Marcelo. This is gonna be one hell of a match.

That goal was an accident though. Croatian dude didn't even hit it head on before it touched Marcelo.

Brazil should have scored there. Great cross with two guys who had a chance to put it in the net.

That goal's on the Croat keeper. That was a pretty weak shot to get by. Keeper left his feet when he should have gotten in front of it.

Well, that Neymar shot was really good. I just hope that Croatia won't collapse now.

Croatia was really lucky not to have given up a goal there. They tried to get cute and it almost cost them huge.

Croatia is doing a lot better than I expected them to. That said they seem to be running out of steam while Brazil is playing the same as they were at the start. I expect a 3-1 finish, 3-2 if Croatia can score in the first 15 minutes.

That was a really entertaining first half. Brazil could easily have three or four on the board right now. Their goal came on arguably their third best chance. It's going to be really tough for Croatia to hold on to the draw.

To tie this in to video games, fuck EA and their last-gen-only World Cup game.

Can't help but feel that Brazil are playing for fouls at the moment. Not diving, but really making the most of any small opportunity to get one. Always a bit disappointing to see that

That was a HORRIBLE call. Brazil has been diving this half, and they're probably going to get rewarded with a W for it.

Damn straight. This is some seriously biased referring. Everything 50/50 goes to Brazil,and that penalty was a joke. Hulk is a monster and he goes over cos someone brushed his arm. This ref better not get any more games this tournament. Should have sent off Neymar first half as well.

Overall I don't think any of the other teams are going to be very worried about Brazil, unless they continue to have 12 players on their side. Neymar looks classy and the rest of them are pretty solid but they are by no means unbeatable or even particularly scary.

Brazil lucky tonight...I could see Argentina or Germany tearing them apart if they play like this again. Maybe just first match nerves- but they didn't deserve more than a draw out of this game. Real shame for Croatia - hope they go on to qualify.

The story from this one is crappy keeping by Croatia, and even worse refereeing. It looked like Brazil might have gotten away with a foul right before the last goal as well. Brazil is getting the three points, but they've been extremely unimpressive and this easily could have gone much differently. I'm really disappointed with the way this finished. Disgraceful.

Still, good game to start the tournament - hopefully we can get more good exciting football and less diving and shitty refs (some chance). Bring on three games tomorrow.

Why was that Croatia goal disallowed? I didn't hear the reasoning.

Wow... that game got really fucked up really fast in the second half. The dive penalty, the close up on a croatian getting bear hugged while having possession, and then on brazils 3rd goal did nobody see the croatian get TACKLED, im talking american football tackled! Fucked you FIFA and your fixed bullshit.

Yeah I was a bit surprised Brazil beat Spain in the qualifying rounds, but I think it could very easily go the other way after watching that match. Maybe Spain was hustling them, haha.
