So you are talking to a girl, she's rather good looking and shows interest in you, but the catch is she dated one of your best friends two years ago. Do you not date her?
Would you or would you not?
I'd be temporarily paralysed due to the fact that a pretty girl is talking to me... So, I hope she's avidly tolerant and rigidly authoritative.
Depends. If they were pretty serious or I knew he was hung up on her then probably not. Aside from that, I'd at least see where things go.
I started dating my best friend's ex less than a month after they broke up. That was probably 7 years ago.
I'd still do it.
@Dany said:Assuming that was an honest age you just presented... it was a 12 year old fling, which is even worse than a 14 year old one.im 14How old are you.
Tell your friend that you are going to go out with her and be a man.
What do you have to lose?

You're 14, no one you date at that age is going to matter because theres no chance you'll stay together for life.
God, I hate teenagers.
We're assuming that I'm not married, right? In that case, I'd go the hell out with her just to spite my friend. I have no particular reason for spiting my friend, but I'd do it anyway.
I occasionally establish the Bro Code that prevents this from happening, but otherwise I'd totally be okay with doing so. Sometimes I check with the guy first to make sure he's okay with it if he's more important to me than she is.

I'm not actually 14, and I already plan on dating the chick. I was just curious what the dwellers of the forum would do. Luckily there hasn't been as many White Knights as I expected.
Don't buy it. Who lies about being 14?

I love this reply.
I read that you are 14, and stopped caring. Mommy having to drive you two anywhere is NOT dating. Its more like...glorified hanging out
@DivineCC: Dude. You have the best Avatar ever. No lies. WOOOOOOOAAAAAAH BUNDY!!!!!!!!!
Talk to him, but his word isn't necessarily final if it was a nothing relationship but he decides to be a dick.
Don't go behind his back though.
If you click on my mini bio you'd see my age. /facepalmI read that you are 14, and stopped caring. Mommy having to drive you two anywhere is NOT dating. Its more like...glorified hanging out

Oh man, some of the replies in this thread.
It depends on how serious the relationship was when she was with your best friend, how the relationship ended and how much they see each other since. You might feel like the third wheel if the three of you get together at some point. Also, you don't want to wind up being compared to him or feel like you're judged against her experience with him. If the relationship ended badly for either of them, then things could be awkward in the future or you might worry if either still has feelings for the other. There could be trust issues between you and her over this and that's no way to start a romance. I agree with the advice to get your friends okay first. He might even offer up a few pointers.
