Would you rather fight 100 duck sized horses, or 1 horse sized duck?

@McGhee: Wouldn't you like to know!

Wait a minute, I don't think anyone has asked the most important question: what are we armed with? Baseball bats? Knives? A baseball bat with a knife on the end?

But seriously, are we talking about fists or do we get a weapon? I've been sitting around for a couple of hours and my mind keeps coming back to this thread. So many tiny horses...

1 Horse sized Duck, seems like a no-brainer. There's strength in numbers.

#54 Posted by Icemael (6100 posts) - 5 months, 27 days ago

A peck or two from a horse-sized duck could probably smash bone. Also it could grab me with its mouth, fly up real high and drop me. Or do a swooping attack from above (it'd be like getting hit by a car going at full speed). Anyone who thinks they'd stand a chance against a monster like that without some really powerful weaponry is kidding themselves.

A hundred duck-sized horses is not that big a problem. What are they gonna do, kick me with their tiny legs? They can't even reach past my knees! They'd be so small and light I could grab one and use it as a club to fight the others if so inclined (which aside from being awesome would likely terrify the other horses, making them even easier targets). And at that size they'd be so slow I'd even have a decent chance of outrunning them if I wanted to. Not to mention horses can't climb. If there's a rock, a tree, a staircase or something like that nearby I could just get up on that and they'd be helpless.

Hows about you are in a gladiator arena that has a tall wall so you cant run away and the floor is sand. You have whatever clothes you are wearing and whatever junk is usually in your pockets: phone, wallet, keys, belt (not in you pockets but around your waist), a knife if you are a paranoid person, or any other things you normally carry on your person.

@DarthOrange: By those rules I'd have to go with tiny horses, because I don't carry a knife. If I had a knife I'd fight the horse-duck, because I would at least have a small chance against it. Without a weapon you would have to be a serious badass to take down a horse-duck.

So my thinking is that I could probably take out some duck-horses by whipping them to death with my belt, but I think I'd lose in the end. 100 murderous duck-horses is a lot of murderous duck-horses. My arm would get tired or my belt would break. Once the duck-horse swarm started closing in, whinnying, kicking and biting at my shins, I would panic. Then I guess I would be beaten to death by duck-horses. Embarrassing.

So many tiny horses...

It depends. Do I have any bread?

#58 Posted by Terramagi (1159 posts) - 5 months, 27 days ago

I'll take the duck.

That way, if I lose, at least I went down fighting a gigantic mutant.

What better way to go.

Someone needs to GM a Horse into the size of a cat.

I feel like you guys are underestimating the horror and overall mass of 100 duck sized creatures. Are the horses in bloodlust mode? This is very important.

Jesus christ, this question pops up in every thread on Reddit.

It is a fight to the death so I am going to say yes.

Agreed. One enemy I can tango with, have some sort of strategy. The horses would be about, what a foot and a half tall each? Ducks aren't ducklings--they have some size. 100 of those, if they worked together, would be an impossible force. Given time to plan and space to manuever, I could kill a horse-sized duck. Just a shot to the head, really.

Whoops, I read it wrong. I chose B 'cause I thought that was one horse the size of a duck, and thought that was a no brainer. I guess I choose A.

#70 Posted by Clonedzero (2162 posts) - 5 months, 26 days ago

the 100 duck sized horses obviously.

a huge horse sized duck would be hard to kill, tiny horses would be fairly easy to kill, just gotta keep yourself from being swarmed too bad and you're golden.

As others have said would a horse sized duck be terrifying.

So I go with the 100 horses.

100 duck size horses. I'd fuck those adorable bastards the fuck UP!

#74 Posted by Penzilneck (401 posts) - 5 months, 26 days ago

Well, what size of horses are we talking about? The difference between the average English and American horse is quite a lot, just to name a couple, and the Icelandic breed is tiny compared to most. Trivia for Game of Thrones fans: in season 2, watch out for the size of Jon's and the other men's horses once north of the wall. They've shrunk since they left the wall, and none of the men seems to notice.

100 duck sized horses. I'd just kick them all.

#76 Posted by Fattony12000 (4381 posts) - 5 months, 26 days ago

Either. I will use guns and bombs and missiles and tanks and multi role jet fighters to defeat any such threat to me or my country.

FORWARD! UNTO VICTORY!

I REALLY want to see a duck sized horse. So that.

#79 Posted by Village_Guy (2099 posts) - 5 months, 26 days ago

One bullet. One kill.

Killing one is simple, killing a 100 is less so.

#80 Posted by BillyMethers (145 posts) - 5 months, 25 days ago

1 horse-size duck. It is the logical one to pick. You can keep an eye on your target and keep track of them. 100 foes is way worse because you would be overwhelmed by the sheer numbers.

#81 Posted by InternetCrab (1497 posts) - 5 months, 25 days ago

100 tiny horses because one horsesized duck is actually kind of horrifying.

Now you said that I can't stop thinking of this topic as that and its terrifying.

I know. I can't sleep at night, knowing that dick-sized horses might be roaming the land.

What about that one horse sized dick?

#83 Posted by Video_Game_King (29358 posts) - 5 months, 25 days ago

@Turambar:

What's it gonna do? It's the size of a horse.

#84 Posted by Mirado (860 posts) - 5 months, 25 days ago

A horse's main method of defense is kicking. Getting kicked by a horse the size of a duck should do nothing more then leave a small bruise. Even if you had a hundred of them going at you at once (and you won't, how would that even work? How would they all fit around you? It's not like horses are skilled in forming kicking circles around their prey; they don't even eat meat!), you'd do far more damage with your body to a duck sized horse then the reverse. In fact, good luck doing anything to an animal that large with your bare hands.

Plus, what kind of horses are we fighting? Even if you shrink everything down to duck size, there's still a good difference between an Arabian and a Clydesdale.

Still, if we have what we normally carry in our pockets (and I always carry a knife), I'm still doing more damage to those baby horses then that duck. All I can see myself doing is pissing the giant duck off. I wouldn't get in close enough to that thing to hit anything vital before it starts trying to bill me to death.

@Mirado: Maybe the lil' horses will stomp your fingers? I dunno.
#86 Posted by Blackout62 (1186 posts) - 5 months, 25 days ago

See it occurs to me that in the 100 duck size horses fight one of them could get away where I couldn't find it.

#87 Posted by Seppli (7732 posts) - 5 months, 25 days ago

As long as I get a big fucking gun, I'll go with the big fucking target. Duck for me please.

#88 Posted by Brodehouse (7140 posts) - 5 months, 25 days ago

I think I'll go with the one big duck. I never want to fight a swarm of anything.

#89 Posted by g00ber (91 posts) - 5 months, 24 days ago

100? Does anyone realize how serious that would get? I'll take my chances with the one mutated freak.
