Gig, not only do you see the band you like but you meet new people with similar interests.

Not me. Live shows might not transfer well from the recorded pieces especially if overdubbed.

Listen to the CD on the way to the gig for some compare and contrast.

And it depends on the band and venue. A band at their home venue will sound better there than most anywhere else.

Go to the gig, with my copy of their (The band who's playing) CD's that I own, get them signed by the bandmembers, and then wait for another week to actually buy the Live CD

I don't understand why you'd have to pick. It's not like going to the concert will stop you from listening to their studio or live CD at home.

I personaly like both but I've seen the Chilli Peppers live and it was amazing and I also listen to their CDs. I'd jump at the chance to watch them live again, though.

I voted cd, because if I could only choose one over the other I'd get to listen to a cd as much as I want, but a gig like what, at most 2 times a year?

You can listen to an album whenever you want.   So why would anyone pick that?   Think about your topic before you make it.   Fuck.

depends on the band though. being a musician myself i would almost always prefer the gig but some bands fucking suck live and have some damn good songs on their cd. and then some bands are just boring as all hell live. who wants to pay $70 to watch a guy dressed like a fucking japanese rpg character stand infront of a mic staring at the floor singing sad songs and pounding on power chords?! Say what you will about bands like KISS, but god damnit you get your fucking money's worth when you see em live!!!
So i'd say that im usually for a live gig, even if just to see if they don't suck live and because being a musician i appreciate live performances! But damnit i will never recommend seeing a band, no matter how good their songs and talent are, if they dont have a great concert performance.

I voted for cd.

And i'm quite happy with it.

Being pushed around, jumped at, feeling the horse breeding of my fellow music fans, smelling their sweat, seeing the band a mile away, standing in long lines for all the things that matter waiting an hour or so, nodding my head at how much money i spend on it... it is no match for a cd for me.

I prefer much more to listen comfortably to it.

Of course if it is a little gig the thing changes, but mostly i like listening to a good cd.

Black metal helps me drive to work faster, and probably sounds better on the 10 speakers in my car. CD. Though I must admit, live performances do rock slightly harder, but take a hit in the sound quality.

D. Both
Listening to polished song that got produced to hell and back is always good but nothing will rplace going to a gig and listening to the songs live and  feeling the raw energy from the crowed. They both have room.

I don't like going places anymore.  I've seen quite a few concerts in my lifetime and I'm not willing to put up with the crowds.  I've had enough, so I voted CDs.

Pretty much my reason. I hear about a lot of bands that just suck when they play live but have great recordings.

It depends some people are shit in concert, I saw a Young Jeezy concert last year that was total shit. He was out of breathe the entire time and just yelling nonsense. However, I also went to a Weezer/Angels & Airwaves concert too and that was fucking awesome. I think Hip-Hop shows are crap in general compared to other types of music.

Gigs are awesome, but a gig is only one night, and a CD could last you a lifetime. I'd go with CD's.
