I propose we start using these new acronyms:
IKS - I Kinda Smiled
TIMA - This Is Moderately Amusing
CQWAN - Chuckled Quietly Without Anyone Noticing
IAYSOHIISTMAWABOTC - I appreciate your sense of humor. It is similar to mine and we are bonding over this coincidence.
However, there's still the usage in sentences like "this is a good sandwich lol". For that I propose we use the acronym GUFFAW, which stands for Grammatically Useless Filler Fucking Asinine Word. How awesome would it be to get an IM that says "guffaw i asked jenny to the dance guffaw she said no guffaw"?
You didn't actually laugh out loud. Don't lie to me.
"guffawut?Maybe they can make it into a motivational poster that repeats the punchline 4 times. That would be hilarious.
Perhaps we should institute an internet lexicographer? Someone who decides what does and does not happen? This person would, however, have to be the lord of 4chan, a most unsavoury proposition. In any case, you have my vote."
... and worse, rolling on the floor laughing, what's next? HASCAA (having asthmalike seizures, call an ambulance)
I seldom use LOL unless I really do, people need to be a bit less liberal on their emotes. This thread put a smile on my face (it was on my pancreas, but thankfully, it's not there)
"so truei use "lol" if it makes me smile....that could be part of the reason why "lol" is so overused
I rarely use lol.
When I do, it's because I actually laughed.
It's like people use lol as punctuation. Instead of a period they use lol."
"... and worse, rolling on the floor laughing, what's next? HASCAA (having asthmalike seizures, call an ambulance)I actually LOL'd at that.

I know what you mean OP, I don't really like people using 'lol', it should only be used on MSN.
"dabada said:Lol has certainly lost its meaning. It is no longer defined by its acronym. It has become its own entity."so truei use "lol" if it makes me smile....that could be part of the reason why "lol" is so overused"

One such use is to diffuse a derogatory statement.
"I totally disagree with you and your stupid for saying what you did lol."
"FU"
"...but I said lol."
How about never using acronyms to express the way you're feeling.
Although that last one is hilarious (not the guffaw one).
I actually did lol right now. Then I CQWAN'd.
I don't even use lol. Or any abbreviation, really. I use brb, and sometimes ftw. But not much.
