Your favorite awful movie
I can't believe this thread has got this big without this being posted.
are we talking REALLY bad like in every way possible, or bad to the stuck up assholes who cant tolerate some mindless fun or crazy action ?
if it's the first, hmm.. Postal! and if its the second, fuck it.
Lot of good ones have been mentioned like Batman (1969), Big Trouble in Little China, Tango and Cash, Roadhouse... But here is the winner:
Wait...Kung Pow was an awful movie?! That movie is fucking awesome and hilarious!!!
As for my choice, that goes to Flesh-Eating Mothers. Thank you, USA's UP All Night.
"Hudson Hawk is a great "bad" movie. If I'm flipping through the channels and Hudson Hawk happens to be on, I will stay and watch until it's over.HUDSON HAWK
"
Ready to Rumble is also another one of my favorite awful movies. (Even though to promote the movie, WCW decided to give David Arquette the Heavyweight Championship.)
" Wrongfully Accused. "I love Wrongfully Accused. It's ratings weren't very good, but I thought it was hilarious. Also They Live is another great crappy action movie.
"I think Crank 2 is really, genuinely fucking good. I also have a soft spot for Spiders, but that's more to do with the guys I was watching it with. "
I was so shocked watching Crank 2. It was like they knew that Crank was only good for watching something dumb and they embraced it. I wouldn't be recommending to my film nerd friends or anything--but it was certainly more interesting than I expected.
I'm going with The Darkest Knight. Dunno if it's been mentioned before, but that movie (it was supposed to be a TV series, but it's not divided into episodes or something?) is absolutely awful-tastic. I'm planning to watch it tomorrow. XD
" @thebatmobile said:" @GetEveryone said:Me too! "" @thegoldencat7 said:I'M ALSO OUT! ""Big Trouble in Little China?"If Big Trouble is considered an "awful movie", then you can count me out of this world. Good night. "
Oh, what a fool I've been for daring to besmirch the name of the cinematic masterpiece that is Big Trouble in Little China.
I love the film, own the DVD, seen it many, many times. Get off my back!
Considering its basically a B-movie satire, I don't think it can ever be considered actually awful. Well, unless you don't like the film. In which case you're perfectly entitled to suggest it is.
Subjectivity rules all.
Well, I wasn't being particularly serious either. Didn't mean to sound hostile. Its hard to detect tone over the internet.
" @GetEveryone:We both fail. I still love you.
Well, I wasn't being particularly serious either. I rarely am. Its hard to detect tone over the internet. "
I'm with ya there!" Kung Pow :-)
Is Starship Troopers bad enough? Man I LOVE that movie.
This gets my vote along with "Future War"." I can't believe this thread has got this big without this being posted.
I bought this for $5 in a Wal Mart when I went to America last summer, best thing I've ever bought. "
As well as the Greatest American Hero!, oh and let's not forget Bull from Night Court!" Are you serious?! House is a classic, and it has George Wendt and is produced by Sean S. Cunningham. "
Yes, actually I am serious. I know the film's cult status, as well as its popularity in the eighties when I was younger. I'm probably one of a small group of people on these boards that had the opportunity to see it during its original theatrical run. While I will agree that it's not fair to lump the film into the category "awful films", I will never consider it to be a good film, thus my inclusion of it in this thread. I do think the film's crew succeeded in doing what it set out to do, and that was to make a campy, entertaining, popcorn horror flick in a time when they were all the rage. I love House for what it is.
" Dude, Where's My Car? Maybe...? "Good choice. I don't know why, and I felt a little ashamed at times, but I laughed a lot during that movie.
Similar movies that I really liked even though I know they were garbage include
- Don't Mess with the Zohan - offensive even when it's trying to be sincere, but still I found much of it funny.
- D.O.A.: Dead or Alive - yeah it was cheesecake and nothing more, but as far as video game movies go, I like this one for knowing it's limitations.
- Mighty Morphing Power Rangers: The Movie - Horrible acting but I paid full ticket money to see this when it came out and I've seen it several times since. Besides Amy Jo Johnson's in it.
- Tank Girl - Lori Petty and Ice-T in kangaroo make-up! Silly but with a decent soundtrack and a lot of bravado. Oh, and a song & dance scene.
- 1998's Godzilla is widely considered horrible, but I love it and own the DVD. It's probably my favorite of the 1-star movies.
