I had five initially, couldn't narrow it down, and said fuck it. Hence the parentheses in the title.

Hahahahahaha, no. I said your top 13 shows, not what you watched when you were 13.

@tiwi: Trust me, I had 5 and couldn't do it. I then had to narrow myself from 20. House was up there, along with Robot Chicken, The Daily Show, Frasier, Rocko's Modern Life, Arrested Development and Jericho.

@iam3green: What are you on shrooms at four in the morning?

1. X-Files

...a big gap then no particular order...

-M*A*S*H
-Seinfeld
-MacGuyver
-Deadwood

Thats it I'll do five. Now I am starting to struggle to decide what would be on a "list" of top favorites. I don't like lists much they hurt my head. Also the other four would be pretty different if we are allowing cartoons to feature as a television series. He-man, Thundercats and junk like that would start coming into picture. But at the end of the day its all about the X-Files for me.

I'm baffled by some of these choices.  I mean, I understand that a lot of you folks are younger and have probably never watched any form of classic TV, but you are sorely missing out...and dare I spit my critical forked tongue, but many of you disappoint me with your #1 choices.  Anyways:

  1. The Andy Griffith Show
  2. All In The Family
  3. The Patty Duke Show
  4. The Dick Van Dyke Show
  5. I Love Lucy
  6. Rod Sterling's The Twilight Zone
  7. Rocko's Modern Life
  8. Green Acres
  9. ER
  10. South Park
  11. Animaniacs
  12. F-Troop
  13. X-Files
Many of these shows were things I watched during my childhood (Nick at Nite FTW), and they still continue to make me laugh today.  They have started showing episodes of Patty Duke late at night on my local NBC station, and I love it!  I had forgotten just how damn funny that show was...and how bold it was for the time it was released.  A parent actually talking to their kid and not insulting them every five minutes?  OMG!!!  I'm hoping that they'll start showing some I Love Lucy at some point, because there is NOTHING funnier than Lucille Ball.  That woman was a comedic fucking genius!

Regardless, though, any self-respecting Southern man who has ever watched a TV cannot deny Andy Griffith or All in the Family.  Andy was that down-home feeling of comfort that everyone wants, and the characters all felt familiar.  As for All in the Family, it had balls.  There is a reason why Archie Bunker is considered the greatest character of all time on TV.
