- Mass Effect 2
- Shadow of the Colossus
- Dark Souls
Your top 3 games of all time (2014)
- Deus Ex (PC)
- Metal Gear Solid (PS1)
- Civilization 2 (PC)
I wish I could list more because it feels bad leaving out Final Fantasy 7 and Zero Escape: Virtues Last Reward
- Command & Conquer (1995)
- Wing Commander (1990)
- Descent (1994)
EDIT: Oh man, looking back at the 2012 thread I had a much more inspired 3rd place pick with Shadow President, which is an amazing game. But I have a hard time replacing any of my three picks here with anything else, especially since I've thought of these games pretty much daily in the past few years. I guess I'll just have to copy my runners up thing from that thread:Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri, I-War/Independence War, System Shock, SimIsle, Wolfenstein 3D and Shadow President.
1. Fallout 2
2. DOTA 2
3. Rocksmith 2014
Really wanted to put Starcontrol 2 in there but it's been a while since I've played it so I'm not too sure how it holds up these days.
@bambamcz: did you meant VI ?? Just kidding and added :D
1. Mega Man X
2. Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic
3. More contentious, maybe TESIII Morrowind, Persona 4 or Super Metroid. I was equally engrossed in all three.
HM: Ocarina of Time
@johntunoku: sorry for making your life harder but i need you to pick which Mega man you prefer or i will place your votes on both of em. Also if you pick one Mega man you need to pick a third one too or i will pick the first you have there :D
- Shadow Hearts: Covenant
- Persona 4
- Grandia
Number three is a rotating fight between Grandia, Phantasy Star 4, and Dark Cloud 2. Today just happened to be a Grandia day.
So many potential pitfalls to take into account. Games I've loved dearly that don't hold up well, games I loved so much that I eventually grew to hate through overexposure, or were later changed in a way that diminished it in some way. Hell I could happily list Fantasy World Dizzy for the ZX Spectrum, but I won't.
So, at a push it would be these:
1. World of Warcraft - Specifically vanilla WoW. I feel the game is pretty much trash nowadays, and has been for a good amount of years, but I still look back at the pre-expansion days with nothing but pure love and adoration. It had it's day in the sun, but man, what a day that was! I know it's easy to hate on now (and I'm always happy to join in), but it ruled the world once upon a time, and with good reason.
2. Dark Souls - Speaks for itself, really.
3. Borderlands - I've always had a real thing for games where numbers come out of dudes when you hit them. It's an almost Semi-fetishistic thing, and Borderlands succeeded in hitting that funny little pleasure center of mine like nothing I've ever played before. I poured thousands of hours into it across 3 different formats just to play with different friends.
1) Dark Souls
2) Guild Wars
3) Fallout 3
I don't know if these are the "best" games, but I played them a lot and enjoyed every second.
- Persona 4 (Golden if we're making the distinction)
- Dark Souls
- GTA Vice City
In reality Vice City is my number 4, but my number 1 and 3 are too similar so I keep my top 3 varied by bumping up Vice City. And I suppose if we are making the distinction between P4G and P4 then they would be my 1 & 2, so again, keeping it varied.
Edit: After checking out the 2012 thread it seems that my top three from then have become my 3, 4, 5 in the two years since. Persona 4 moved from 4 to 1 with the release of Golden. And just like I said in 2012, all these are games I could replay endlessly, and in fact do on an annual basis.
I know that my favorite is Super Metroid. Metroid Prime follows that pretty closely, but I can't mention two games from the same franchise unless they're vastly different. So I'm just not sure about 2 and 3. There are a lot of games I love that I'd want to put there - Half-Life, Chrono Trigger, Crash 2 and 3, Mega Man X, SMT Nocturne, Halo 1 - but I just can't choose two. I don't know, I'm getting tired of numbering things in order of favorites. I'd rather talk about games than turn them into statistics.
1/ Mass Effect.
2/ The Last of Us.
3/ Shenmue.
I've been gaming since the VIC-20, and I have another 60 games I could swap in or out for these.
All-time favorite games? Man, that's hard! Changes every other day, it seems, and good luck having me put them in a particular order.
- Lords of Thunder (TurboGrafx SuperCD version)
- Phantasy Star IV
- Super Mario Bros. (NES version)
If you asked for just my number 1, that would be easy. Picking the other two though...damn. I just feel like I'm leaving something out. I'll go with what my gut feeling is at the moment.
- Okami
- Red Dead Redemption
- Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective
Games that easily could take those last two spots:
- Persona 3 / 4
- Uncharted 2
- Ratchet and Clank UYA / aCiT
- Jak 3
- Radiant Historia
- Valkyria Chronicles
