I was listening to Superunknown when I was creating my new AIM screenname in high school.  Just kind of stuck with it for the sake of consistency.

#10 Posted by PeasantAbuse (5138 posts) -

I wanted to just be Peasant on some game and they recommended this because Peasant was already taken. That happened around the same time I signed up for GB.

I regret everything.

#11 Posted by Dany (7887 posts) -

I signed up day one but didn't want Dan, and I've been going by Danny on some other sites and I forgot an n when creating an acount. So I stuck with it.

When I was in highschool I had a habit of eating outside all the time regardless of the weather. A person eventually asked me if I did it because I was envying the clouds.

That's all there is to it, really.

Back in primary school, a lot of people used to spell my name as Leeyum. Then while deciding on a PSN ID, I figured I'd twist it around as Yumlee; add a little extra flourish and thus Yummylee is born. My old username Abyssfull meant something like being full of emptiness... I was 14 when I first thought it up and it just stuck with me for so many years. Until that fateful day.

#14 Posted by LastNinja (281 posts) -

A game that really impressed me when I was a kid since I was (still am) in to ninjas and all that, The Last Ninja on the C64. Started using it back in the mIRC and Quake days.

#15 Edited by AlexanderSheen (5006 posts) -

In a foreign and exotic language, it means: "Alexander Sheen"

I remember explaining it a little while ago, ah well.

My name is Alex and I like Michael Sheen's movies and his name, so I combined the two and put "ander" in the middle.

EDIT:

This is actually a good story. Sounds like something in a manga would happen.

my name's Ajay and the Raz is there because something needed to accompany it. i used it originally because i thought it sounded cool and i figured it would never get taken. now i don't think so that it's that awesome and i'm kinda looking for another handle to eventually replace it

#17 Posted by Canteu (2821 posts) -

It is simply a word I made up about 10 years ago.

#18 Posted by RecSpec (3816 posts) -

Short for Recon Specialist. I was known as Recon Specialist Reno back when I played MGS:3 online.

#29 Posted by FraggingRights (82 posts) -

It's a play on words. Frag + bragging rights = FraggingRights.

Created it years ago and it just kind of stuck with me as one of my two monikers.

Moose are pretty rad, I'm a dude, and...uh...Mc.

#31 Posted by Stonyman65 (2703 posts) -

Stonyman is the name of a Mack Bolan spin off series, and the 65 part is just 2 random numbers I typed in a long time ago for a gamer tag that wouldn't let me just use stonyman.

Contrary to popular belief, I AM NOT A STONER.

Not quite as catchy as Provocative Secretary or Marshall Banana.

Mash up of two bands.....Guided By Voices and Romance of Young Tigers.

#36 Posted by Hockeymask27 (3683 posts) -

#38 Posted by forkboy (1151 posts) -

So one time on the internet about 8 years ago I needed a login for some website & my usual login, was taken. So I just chose the song I was listening to at the time, Forkboy by Lard as my name for this long-forgotten site. And then I thought "hey fucko, maybe it's better not having your actual name as your username & so ended up making forkboy my go to username.

#43 Posted by believer258 (11898 posts) -

In 2006, I became a Christian and was crazy about it then. Not a Westboro type Christian, mind you, but a big Christian nonetheless. I joined Xbox Live in early 2008 and Believer258 became my username. Because I refuse to spend 10 greenbacks to change it, it's stuck and I've used it for everything else.

Fast forward to now, and I still claim to be a Christian but I seem to have laxed on a lot of things, like going to church, reading the Bible, and using lots of saucy language. So at this point I guess I've grown into a full fledged American, minus the homophobia *pats self on back*.

I still like the username a lot, if only for its uniqueness and the value of having at least one person sing to me every time I get on Xbox Live, among all of the other puns and jokes made on it.

I've always thought your username was pretty cool, and that story makes it sound a whole lot cooler. I thought it was just an anime thing or something.

#44 Posted by Arker101 (1474 posts) -

I was trying to make a username by saying random syllables. I settled on Arker and the 101 is just arbitrary.

#45 Posted by BestUsernameEver (4825 posts) -

It's the best. Ever.

#46 Posted by Nightriff (5079 posts) -

Was a band name that I liked years ago...I think it's bad now but it has stuck with me. I prefer my Gamertag but I'm starting to get sick of that too.

#48 Posted by CaptainTightPants (2834 posts) -

When I was in 8th grade I really loved Resident Evil 4 and my favorite AC/DC song at the time was Thunderstruck.
So I just combined the two and came up with Resident4thunder. I used that username for a while until I decided it was too long, so I shortened it to Resident4t.  Since then I have been using Resident4t pretty much everywhere, It just stuck with me.
I wasn't exactly the most creative kid in 8th grade, and I guess I could change it... but... eh.... whatever.

Believe it or not (punny!) your username was one of the ones I'd been thinking about using on Xbox Live, and actually did use it when my dad made me join a pen pal website in 2002 because... I dunno, something about wanting me to meet people and make friends. The internet didn't help much and the idea dropped, but I did use that username back then.
