Gangnam Style has been with us for 5 months, 5 months and people are still playing it everywhere. I still quite enjoy the song because it's a good song, but I feel like it's time to move on with my life. YouTube and PSY teamed up to produce Rewind YouTube Style which features some YouTube "Celebrities" and a whole bunch of 2012 references. This is seems like a good video for the song to finally be at peace, I can now move on with my life now and wait for the next trendy song to come along. Oh and did I mention it turns into "Call me maybe" halfway through, and then it turns into a full blown remix of Call me maybe and Gangnam style and thats when I have no idea whats going on.

It's been fun PSY, this is a good final send off for this song, let this song have been born and then die in 2012.

Watched this last night. I enjoyed it.

He should make a song about his hate for U.S. soldiers next.

Does anybody else want nothing to do with Gangam Style?

#5 Posted by McGhee (6075 posts) -

PSY himself said he's tired of doing Gangnam Style.

I have no idea what videos and shit they are referencing in the video and I'm absolutely happy I can say that.

@Video_Game_King: I want so much of "nothing" to do with it that I've honestly never seen it and still have no idea what it is. I only know it by name.

You are so cool.

No offense but this feels like a spam topic. Why advertise some stupid commercialised youtube video that's going to get millions of hits anyway? Also how is another video related to Gangnam style going to finally put the stupid gimmick to bed? It's just shoving it in our faces even more, and this topic certainly doesn't help.

#10 Posted by Video_Game_King (36272 posts) -

@PollySMPS:

Same here. I don't know what Gangam Style is outside of "Korean pop music". All I know is that I want nothing to do with it.

@PollySMPS: I honestly don't believe you, felix baumgartner was 24 miles high and even he heard it

#12 Posted by gamefreak9 (2419 posts) -

I was in the first 1000 viewers for this :P.

Is that Felicia Day popping up to start the Call Me Maybe part? Why?

I continue to love everything about the original Gangnam Style video and song, but this whole thing is getting to be a bit much. I also have no idea what the references are other than the one to this girl and I'm good with that.

#14 Posted by Giantstalker (1729 posts) -

Oh, Gagnam Style.

That song I hate when I'm sober, and love when I'm drunk.

Nothing else from the video made much sense to me, though, I'm just that out of touch.

#15 Posted by Dogma (989 posts) -

I like Gangnam Style BUT i had almost no clue who all these people were! I'm so out of Youtube touch...

#16 Posted by uniform (1838 posts) -

I recognize PSY and Felicia Day. I have no idea who the others are. They have their names at the end, and that didn't help.

How do people not know the annoying orange, I hate the annoying orange and thats why I knew it was him. I hate him as much as I hate Fred, I mean check out this Orange.

#19 Posted by Dixavd (1380 posts) -

@pyromagnestir: Because she started (with Wil Wheaton I think) a youtube channel this year due to bein given a grant by Google/Youtube at the end of last year to do one (among many others who got one as well). So she is effectively a part of Youtube - and also why not?

#20 Edited by spiceninja (3070 posts) -

I have no idea who any of those people are except for nigahiga, and I only know him because his videos are painfully awkward and unfunny and it baffles me why he's so popular.

#21 Posted by triviaman09 (804 posts) -

All of this is the part where I have no idea what is going on.

This is YouTube spam.

Yes, everybody loves foreign occupation! Who doesn't love when foreign militaries are exempt from local law and have no accountability! When they acquit their own soldiers from any wrongdoing because America can do no wrong!

Isn't that pretty much every single song though? It is for me at least. Anyway, this song was played during the introduction week at my university (it was the official "time to drink" song or something) so my classmates and I will forever be tied together via this song, I kinda like that.

#26 Posted by Pezen (1670 posts) -

I think the song reached it's apex when a dude literally died doing the dance during his wife's birthday party.

Oh for god sake, can people give this a rest already? I am so sick of hearing about this song, people bring it back up now and then as if it's new, kinda like going as The Joker to a halloween party.

So close to a billion, its looking pretty probable it will get there just before the end of the world. Never would of guessed the biggest song of 2012 would be a K Pop song.

Easy: I just ignore it. I will also ignore this YouTube video and move on with my life.

As an American, i think his words were dumb but his anger was understandable. It was 8 years ago and he's apologized so it's time to move on.

I saw the original music video over my girlfriend's shoulder. I thought it was clever and funny. Not so amusing is the way that the Internet refuses to stop iterating on it ad nauseam. I don't watch random shit on YouTube, though, so I have safely managed to avoid most of it.

#36 Edited by NegativeCero (3039 posts) -

I have no idea who these people are. I found it entertaining enough though.

Edit: Well, other than PSY and Felicia Day.

#37 Posted by BisonHero (7066 posts) -

I don't recognize most of those YouTube videos. Oh no! I'm old now! Fuck.

I still remember those halcyon days of watching this Weezer music video and knowing like all of the references.

I recognized about 5-10 people in the video, actually. The only really good moment was PSY smashing that guitar.

...but this won't be the last of Gangnam Style. Expect the PSY/Beyonce team-up at the Super Bowl Halftime Show. I can almost GUARANTEE that it will be there.

#39 Posted by Colourful_Hippie (4498 posts) -

Whatever, I've always enjoyed this more than anything Psy put out.

Why not?

(As for actually why, she's one of those YouTube partners that runs a Google funded channel, so it makes sense that they'd want to promote her)

#41 Posted by Skogen (430 posts) -

Fuck that song. It's nothing more than the korean Macarena.

#42 Posted by pyromagnestir (4339 posts) -

@Colourful_Hippie:

I want that to be the inspiration for the next Patapon game.

#43 Posted by Colourful_Hippie (4498 posts) -

@pyromagnestir: Ha, I never thought about that, I'm so on board for something like that to happen.

#44 Posted by Deadmanforking (579 posts) -

I like Psy, and Gangnam style is a fun song, but we really need to move on from it.

#45 Posted by Humanity (10123 posts) -

I despise all of those YouTube "celebrities" and feel like this is just driving a nail into another nail that has been driven into the Gangnam coffin ages ago. It will get YouTube clicks though so good for them, another few million views from an old fad ain't bad.

#46 Posted by Vexxan (4614 posts) -

I was introduced to Gangnam Style pretty early due to watching so much Starcraft 2 streams and I'm still enjoying it to some extent and I think this was a nice way of YouTube to acknowledge it's success. Most of the other people I don't know who they are, I only recognized two or three of them.

#47 Posted by TooWalrus (13258 posts) -

I guarantee this won't be the last we've seen of Gangnam Style.

#48 Posted by Mcfart (1729 posts) -

I loved that they had Obama from the rap battle. Gangnam's okay, but the Rap Battle was amazing.

I have nothing against PSY and Gangnam style, and kind of enjoy it when it's not being run into the ground a million times per minute.

But this video? All it did was remind me that most of the stuff on youtube is really stupid, and not in a good or funny way.
