Although the competition was quite fierce, in all reality, this was a no-brainer. However, that doesn't take anything away from his brilliant performance. Now, let's bring on that Oscar.

Yeah, he deserved it, although those guys were great in Tropic Thunder. I hope he does win an oscar, although I fear people may claim hat it will only have been because of his death. You know, jerks.
I find offensive the "Supporting" tag, since he was the best one in the movie. But I think it is well deserved. He did a great job. He had some competition too :P Those were great actors... except for Tom Cruise, but I have to admit that his performance in Tropic thunder was unique :P
I'd love to see Ledger get the Oscar he deserves, but unfortunately the Dark Knight had a wide release, wasn't a complete love story, and didn't have a pretentious feeling about it. You see, only those movies win Oscars. Oh well, I guess we'll just have to watch every award go to Slumdog Millionaire during the Oscars.

It was an ensemble cast, there's no way Ledger could have got the big award.

Don't start this. We all know the Oscars are political. Just like the movies they represent, it's all about entertainment for us. Who cares if your favorite film didn't get Best Picture? It can still be your favorite film.

Thankfully, they were in different categories.
As I said in my own post, this is a great occasion that makes his death even more sad. The aura of gloom that went across the whole audience was pretty profound.
