Howdy y'all...
So err... I guess this is a question for the more tech savvy members of the giant bombs. I've got two HDDs in my PC, the first is an IDE drive which stores my OS and program files and such, but I have a second drive connected via SATA which has all of my music and media and general files on it.

So, for the first time in about... 2 years? My secondary drive with all my documents has just disappeared... completely. Not showing up in explorer, none of my media can be found... Any tips on what I should do? I'm going to restart and try all the usual things, and then if worst comes to worst I'll bust my case open and check the connections, but I'm worried a bit now. =(

@Meltbrain: I suggest this. Open your case, be careful of static electricity, disconnect and reconnect the SATA cables, closer her up and boot her up. Hopefully you'll see or hear something that indicates that the hard drive has been recognized, if not... I don't know.

What are your specs Meltbrain? Maybe it's time to just make a new computer.

Nah man this thing is pretty beastly, I built it myself. It's definitely not time for an upgrade yet, the only things I would upgrade at the minute are the HDDs cause they're pretty old, but the IDE drive is much older than the SATA drive so I don't get why it's crapping up.

@Meltbrain: I don't want to scare you but maybe it's the motherboard? Did you try reconnecting stuff?

I just finished restarting my PC and it seems to have reappeared. >_<
Stupid thing, I wonder why it just disappeared like that? I've never seen that happen before. Oh well, crisis averted. Good dog.
Cheers for giving me some tips, man. :)

@Meltbrain: Sure thing, it's great seeing another PC gamer here in the console land.

I love them both, man. I play my PS3 and 360 as much as I can and when I fancy some Crysis or Stalker or something I boot this thing up. I play a fair few steam games, too. How about you? What PC games do you play?

I also own a PS3 and a Wii, I just finished a second playthrough of Uncharted, great game, really fun the second time.

Steam is like my second home, I get most of my PC games there, I have all the Half Lifes, I have STALKER, Bioshock, Mass Effect, you know the staples. I used to play quite a lot of Dawn of War (the first one), didn't really like the 2nd one, but I do still play on occasion Company of Heroes.

Right now I'm playing through The Witcher, boobs do make everything better. And TF2 is currently my go to game while listening to podcasts. (JUST GOT MY HALO HAT!)

Haha, I heard good things about The Witcher but I was always slightly unsure, is it worth grabbing? I just finished a long-ass play through of NWN2 and Dawn of War 2. DoW 2 is great, man. It's just like Vinny said on the last podcast though, you have to give it some time to work it's charms on you, and you have to get used to the lack of a real base. I played all the originals, too. Dark Crusade was probably the high point, I think.

Ok, I remember Vinny mention he started playing and he got hooked, I'll give it a second shot. My impressions come mainly from the demo btw.

Ah The Witcher, it's hard to describe,

Edit: I tried, but it really is hard to describe, um... I like it, but it's got its share of problems, never really had a hard time describing a game. It's European?
