so ryan's topic about jimmy fallon got me to thinking, who is your favorite late night host?

mine is Craig Ferguson, i watch him almost religiously... he makes even the most bland interviewers a fun interview to watch, and dont even get me started on the awesome email segment

who is yours?

edit: ya thats right, your favorite LAT night tv host...

Jay Leno. Headlines, Jaywalking and his monologues have always been great. I am hoping he can capture an audience at his new time spot at 10 PM in the fall. Its going to be strange there and if he does well, he will be there for a long time I bet. If not...then..*sigh* I don't know. He's always been my favorite though.

Conan, ever since I got a TV in my room in grade like 4-5, and watched him every night.  Glad to see Andy's back too.

Conan, and Letterman. I don't watch them very often, but they're the only two I ever really watch. Unless we're to including The Daily Show, and The Cobert Report in this, then they'd be my top two.

I love Jon Stewart but I don't think he counts as a late night show because his show is only a half an hour and has a different format then most late night show. A late night show has to be a hour long, start off with stand up, maybe then have some sort of skit or clip, than have two interviews, and then a musical guest plays. My favorite late night show is Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. He is located in New York and I live in New Jersey (a.k.a the suburbs if New York), The Roots are a great band, I like his skits, his stand up is funny, and in general I like him more than all of the other stand up hosts.

uh... not late night. and its all political, which late night SHOULD NEVER BE.

i'd say its Conan by a landslide. and anyone saying jimmy fallon is fuckin retarded, especially if you actually think his monologues are funny.
the only good about Fallons show  is the KICKASS band The Roots.

he's doing great, mostly even with letterman and sometimes surpassing. you'd be high to think he'd bomb. he is going to demolish letterman over time, his show is so much more funny and he has way more class- meaning, he doesn't ever get insulting, he has never pissed anyone off, he comes up with funny bits for every episode like he's still writing for the simpsons or SNL, and his band rules. his monologues are better than ever too. I will always remember letterman as one of Norm's funniest impressions.

If you combine the daily show and colbert report into one show, most of those requirements are met(they don't have musicians that often).

Yeah I only remember one musician on the show and that was Cold Play. I disagree with you though. I love Stewart but don't like Colbert so I don't watch Colbert. They have very different styles.

I used to watch Letterman with my dad but his jokes are kind of repetitive. Don't you think?

Conan is the only one that I have ever consider funny, no offense to Leno, and Letterman.  I just always thought Conan has been way better, his skits are a thing of comic beauty.

I hope TO GOD, (seriously), the Craig Fergusson takes over Late Show SOON!
Letterman is a prick. Craig was born for the job though, he is so funny, his weird bits are hilarious (the aquaman thing was just awesome) and he is probably the best interviewer on late night tv period.

That being said, I think Conan's show is definitely the best. His bits and his videos of him going out and doing wierd shit (i am reminded of the 19th century baseball thing, and the recent shopping for guitars on craigs list with Slash!!). and the Rodeo Road shopping spree almost had me in tears

Yeah, when Viva La Vida came out. Usually he has authors on to talk about their new books.
