Man, Alien, Aliens, Predator and P2 were amazing movies. They all had theyre strong suits, amazing acting, great special effects, and an interesting plot. Sadly the mediocre Alien 3 came along which was real depressing. Freaking Newt, thats right poor Newt got killed. That really pissed me off. And also poor Hicks/Hudson (i forget). They tryed to capitalize on the success of Aliens and kinda flopped. So Ressurection comes and by then i don't take the series as seriously as before, and i ended up enjoying it. Also the plot of having Ripley's DNA, cloning her and extracting the queen is really stupid and makes it feel like the clone Ripley 8 just an excuse to have Weaver back in the main role. Ya she was badass but seriously. The ending of Alien 3 was a fitting one for her.

So then comes along Aliens vs Predator .  . . just cause an Alien head was in the background of P2 doesn't mean they should set up a confrontation between the two. Hell that was a lousy excuse. The Predators trophy room was FULL of different aliens, so why did they choose to make Aliens vs Predator? Cause of MONEY. They wanted money and they got it. At the expense of the credibility of both franchises in future films. Then AVPR came and it was a fun B movies, but taking it seriously would be like saying the fucking main mario series goes, Mario 3 Mario World Mario's Hotel Mario 64, its bullshit. Now since 2000 rumors have been going around about Alien 5. It would either pick up right after Resurection, or it would dwell into the backstory of the universe. I think the latter would have been much better than the two versus movies. Finding out the origin of the Aliens, or better yet looking at the events of the Space Jockey. (the big dead alien at the beginning of alien 1). Those rumors ended a while back and now it seems all the 2 series, oh wait excuse me, all the 1 fucking series has left is a bunch of possible versus movies. Because aparantly these were never seperate franchise. They were all taking place in the same fucking universe, geez.

So whats your take on all this?

Alien 3 was quite enjoyable, specially the Assembly Cut. The cast was bland but at least the main characters were played by excellent actors and the music plus the cenery made up for a very impressive looking and sounding movie.

A:R is more of a black comedy, the NewBorn hybrid was simply horrible but the rest of the movie was quite decent. AvP was good as a popcorn flick and it's better left to its own, out of the Alien and Predator canon. AvP-R was horrible, barely watchable even as a popcorn movie.

Darkness, boring performances and pointless subplots ruined it.

I didn't like Predator very much, the soldiers were really horrible and gave that whole macho men kind of performaces that I so hated in Gears of War as well. I actually rooted for the Predator in that movie, which was really well designed and determined to skin those vietnam/commando junkies. Predator 2 was better in my opinion, it had more memorable performances.

Alien and Aliens are masterpieces, I love them both, though I'm more fascinated by Alien. Aliens was excellent because it broke the convention that the military are the saviors, by killing them with an low-tech enemy.

I wouldn't count on an Alien 5, at least with Sigourney Weaver in it.

I hope Aliens: Colonial Marines doesn't get canceled with the release of Alien Vs Predator. AvP is a more commercial brand so I fear for CM.

Oh, and the chestburster is cuter than human babies, and I really mean that.
