I think it all started with Rich, and to some extent Carrie. Id say more Rich though since he left GS for unemployment while Carrie left GS for another job. But if working at GS is the dream job, why did they leave unless something we don't know was wrong?
Working at GS used to be the dreamjob, but not even I want to work there anymore."
Carrie left to go make video games, her real passion (she worked at game developer Acclaim before GameSpot). While Rich left to go live with his girlfriend (wife?) on the east coast. So Carrie is living her real dreamjob, and Rich is loving his family. That hardly seems like "they left because something was wrong.""
Perhaps wrong is the wrong word for it, but it obviously wasn't the dream job for those two since Carrie went for her actual dream job and Rich (about a month before his departure was on vacation in Hawaii with his GF and he tells us he's moving back for family reasons. Yeah I think he proposed at Hawaii and she said yes.)
Either way something wasn't right if not wrong because people don't leave dream jobs unless it wasn't a dream job.
In fact that totally does seem like they left because something wasn't right (aka WRONG), like the perceived dream job at GS is just another other job, but somehow we romanticized it to be the dream job. Most of us can't say since most of us never actually worked at GS. Either way, whether actually working at GS was a dreamjob or not, the perception of it is definitely gone.
