you are not alone... Who can't shed a manly tear when Wilson floats away?

25th Hour is hella sad too.

Don't remember if I already posted here but, the closest I've come to shedding a tear in a movie was at the end of Rocky 2, when Rocky says "I just want to say one thing, yo' Adrian! I did it!"

Oh man, that was so epic :')

I cried at the end of Grave of the Fireflies... if you've seen that movie, you know why. It's nigh impossible to watch that movie without at least feeling extremely sad.

I cry watching a ton of movies. I've actually gone on a movie-watching spree this past week, and I probably cried during half of them.

Band of Brothers isn't a movie but for some reason it affected me quite a bit, especially with the reality of war.

The only time I've ever cried was at the end of Alone in the Dark. It was the most emotional moment of my life. Because I realized I had just spent $8.50 on the most masochistic movie ever made!

Lets see,

Saving Private Ryan at the end, Black Hawk Down when the guy is dying slowly, I am Sam cant remember when and watching castaway tonight it jerked my chain a bit but no tears, lots of other movies have done this as well.  I am sure there are more but that's all I can remember for now.

Lost Odyssey, but that's not a movie (although it has more hours of cutscenes than a movie)

The Lion King

Sure, I was like 6 when I first saw it, but it was still really sad.

Oh, and Spiderman 3....cause it was terrible!

I don't see how people can cry in a movie.  The movie is fake, get over it.

Well, a movie can be as real as a person wants it to be. A person's perception of the world is their reality.

Cast Away is the only movie I've REALLY cried in and not just teared up a little bit. Of course I was ten at the time, but still, Wilson floating away was and is the saddest thing ever.

I always cry when I watch "Dead Poets Society", in the scene when Robin Williams is leaving and his students get up and stand on their desks to salute him.

PwnzerfaustMonk, we're not just merely talking about the death of a fictional character. There's plenty of reasons one should cry during a scene in a movie or a videogame. It's the drama, the feeling, the message that is conveyed that triggers some emotions / memories. Sometimes you cry when a fictional character dies because he/her DOES remind us of a relative we lost. Sometimes we cry because a particular scene or sentence reminds us of something sad that happended to us. Sometimes the pathos during a movie is so intense because it's somewhat related to something that lives deep inside our subconscious and we don't even know why a particular feeling arises when watching that movie. Sometimes we cry for the death of fictional character because his feeling and thoughts are very similar to ours and that character could have been a good friend, would he/she has been real. If you can link your persona to something, be it real or not, then whatever happens to that something has necessarily aan impact on ourselves.
All this does NOT mean we care less about real people than about fictional. It's just a situation that reminisces us of a very real fact of person, that touches our deep feeling and thoughts. We open up to particular persons and situations, whether in real life or in a fiction, and then we are prone to be moved, scared, amused, worried by what happens to those persons, not only for who they are, but mostly for HOW we FEEL RELATED to them.
I don't care if the students in the movie die, live, are happy, are sad, eat a pizza, eat a cake, salute the professor or kick him in the ass; but whe they show the appreciation they have for him and show him he left a mark in their hearts and that he's not just a professor to them, I can't help crying, because i understand how he's feeling, I feel the rush of pride and joy of being able to instill the passion of life in those boys and that the time spent with them is more worth than the whole English literature.
That's the respect that makes rivers from our eyes.
And that's the final line of my thoughts on this matter.
Be gone and suck out all the marrow of life. And games :)
