He he, I think the last film I watched was the same as Linkyshinks, Mum and Dad (I can't remember watching any other films this week). I really liked it as a film, but it does have some really disturbing parts in it.

Overall, I rate it: ****

I really want to see The Wrestler, it looks really good and sounds it from what I've heard.

'Rightous Kill'
Forgettable.  Lousy, predictable story, and crappy script.  Deniro plays the same 'mutt' the whole movie and Pacino looks ancient(when did he get those deep ass wrinkles?).  Acting for money only apparently, lol.  **

I watched "Army of Darkness" last night with a bunch of friends. It's a movie that does what it is trying to do perfectly, being funny by being corny. A very well done comedy that is funny all throughout. But although it's a sequel to Evil Dead 1 and 2, this is hardly scary at all which I am always a little disappointed in.

Thanks Jakob for the tip ;)"

awesome movie, that man can deliver one-liners of awesomeness.

Yeah, I didn't like it. Maybe it's my utter disdain for Owen WIlson but I didn't think Darjeeling was that good at all.

The Orphanage

Produced By Del Toro himself, its a very good horror film with some fantastic acting in it.There are a couple of small plot wholes that keep this movie from being perfect.

Horror movies that rely almost entirely on jump scares don't work well with me. I prefer more suspense and whatnot. There were some good scenes though (and, since I wasn't looking at the screen and looked back, one part did actually make me jump out of my damn seat), and it was fairly gory (whenever I'll hear "bathtub", I'll think of two things.....Eternal Darkness, and this). But it fell apart near the end (seriously, if you've seen it you'll know. What the fuck?). Meh.

The crew of the Nadesico TV series (1996) reassemble, this time under the leadership of Lieutenant Commander Ruri Hoshino, now captain of the Nadesico-B, to stop an uprising and rescue old friends.  It's been three years since the end of the Earth/Jovian War and much of the cast have all gone their own way. Prince of Darkness followed the release of a Sega Saturn game "Mobile Battleship Nadesico, The Blank of Three Years" (1997?) that fills in the gap between the series and film.  The first two-thirds of Nadesico: The Movie is spent "getting the band back together", interplayed with incidents that advance the plot along until the final third wraps it all up including the obilgatory giant robo vs giant robo showdown.  Overall, it's probably best for fans of the series, like me.  I found it lacked a lot of the zanniness from the TV show, forgoing that fun for a story that is mostly serious and even cynical.  Perhaps, that's due to the focus this time being on violet-haired Ruri, a decidedly stoic character in both incarnations.  Although, I don't think she uttered her trademark "Idiots" line in the movie.  But, while some missing elements of the film did disappoint me, overall I enjoyed the feature.

I've seen that recently, t'was a good film. Ben Kingsley is a great actor.

I thought it was icky how he does a sex scene with one of the Olsen twins though. The dude is like 70 or something!. He's done them with Penelope Cruz in Elegy too... the lucky bastard : )

I thought it was a good thought provoking film, it made me think about my own life.

It's a bit alluring, pretty, well crafted and such, but I dunno, the ending felt a bit flimsy I thought. You know it before it has even happened, so there's not really much of a mystery to it. And then it just reveals itself with a *ta-da!* that just sort of slumps over to the noise of a balloon deflating.

If I had wanted to watch Forrest Gump again, I would have saved myself 8 dollars, and watched it at home. I mean this movie was very similar to Forrest Gump in almost every way, even plot to some point. Which is sort of to be expected, considering the same guy wrote both.
Erm, what?

Winston Groom wrote Forrest Gump.  Benjamin Button is based on the short story by F. Scott Fitzgerald.

Unless you're talking about the scripts.  You probably are. "
Ya, one Mr. Eric Roth wrote the screenplay for both movies. I'm well aware that they are based loosely on two different books/short stories. Just the whole production of the movie seemed Forrest Gump-esque.

I hate the new album, but I remember seeing those guys live before Silver Side Up was even considered.  They were still in the process of writing the song "Look What Your Money Bought" when I saw them in Phoenix, and it was the most energetic show I've been to outside of Kittie and Pantera.  Damn good show, damn good tunes, and damn good beer!

*EDIT*  To add on a couple other comments:

Timeline is horrible.

Wall-E is something I STILL haven't seen.  I keep wanting to watch it, but I can't find it justifying a $20+ purchase.

Forrest Gump is an okay movie, but nothing amazing.  Gary Sinise was the best part of that flick.  As for the original novel, Forrest Gump was a fucking jerk and an asshole.  That's probably why I hated the movie, because they made the character lovable.

I fucking LOVE LOVE LOVE The Orphanage.  Such a well-made movie, and very classic in the way it's directed.  I was highly pleased with that.

And here's what I watched last night:

Identity is a flick starring John Cusack, Ray Liotta, and Amanda Peet in an incredibly well-crafted thriller about a motel and the systematic disappearance of the people residing in it.  The only way that this would've been better is if Hitchcock were still alive, as it evokes a TON of his memory and style.  John Cusack delivers an incredibly tense performance, and even a wash-up like Liotta gives one hell of a fine performance.  The beauty of it is that every single person is able to play "what the fuck is going on" perfectly.  There are definitely some plot holes to trip in once in a while, but it's very easy to lose yourself in the film.  To top it off, it happens to feature one of the greatest twist endings ever on film...enough to make you say "HOLY FUCK-ME-MARY!".  The only holdback is that the movie gets a little long at times, stretching itself thin.  Also, if you are a bit more intelligent than the average viewer, you may figure out that twist ending a lot earlier than others.  If you aren't, you may just get too confused and cut the movie off.

James Mangold may be better known for his work on Walk The Line or Girl, Interrupted, but Identity is a must-have for anyone's DVD catalogue.

Slumdog Millionaire

*****

This is a beautiful movie. It is stylish, cool, well-acted, and put together brilliantly. Prior to seeing it, the whole "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire"  premise didn't seem too appealing to me, but it is certainly used to great effect in this film. The more I've thought about the movie since seeing it yesterday, the more I've been impressed by it. It all come togethers so nicely, and is truly a beautiful tale. This is probably the best film I've seen all year, and I would not be surprised if it ends up winning Best Picture at the Oscars. The characters are intriguing, the music is catchy, it has a style that is all it's own. Do yourself a favor. Go see Slumdog Millionaire.

The Day the Earth Stood Still

**

It does raise some interesting questions but the performances by all are never light the fuse..The script  would have let down even the best of actors. It was annoying. Kathy Bates was lame as the Secretary of State, never believable in the role. I also found it dumb that that the President of the United States did not feature at all in this. That should be standard practice in a film of this nature. From the get go this film seemed to have low production values which I found odd given it's stars. Bad film.

Been meaning to see this for the longest time.  Interesting, but nothing really stood out.

~Resident Evil: Degeneration~

***

The biggest problem with this is the animation.  They used motion capture, but it still looks manually animated for the most part.  Everyone's faces are pretty expressionless.

I also agree that ~the Orphanage~ is a splendidly done film.

City of Rot - 3 out of 5 stars.

A zombie movie made with low budget, and everything was done by 1 dude. Pretty impressive and it starts off really interesting, comical, and gruesome. However the 2nd half of the movie definitely tapered off.

Wow, going back to some "classics."
I remember liking ~the Last Boy Scout~ at the time.
Can't recall too much about ~Demolition Man~. I know there's Stallone, and Bullock, and the Sting soundtrack.
I'm not sure I've ever taken the time to completely sit through ~Westworld~.
