I've never experienced it. The most I've ever felt is that thing where you're dreaming that you're walking along and then you trip, then wake up feeling as though you tripped in real life.

I had it 5 times on Thursday night. It sucks and it is very scary. I just lay in bed not able to move and try to scream. There has only been one occasion when I've seen a ghostly image. Nothing like Fuseli's painting though. It comes and goes thankfully.

I'm not sure If I've had one of these, I've certainly slept walked a couple of times (One involving falling down the stairs and having a fit wih blood pouring out my nose).

It's kind of weird, but usually it happens to me when something in my dream scares the living crap out of me.

It happened to me once and that is what happened, i couldn't move but you still hallucinate a bit because your senses become somewhat stronger, any little sound scared the shit out of me.

Again, doesn't happen to me. All I get is the inability to do anything.

Think I had something like this when I was younger. I used to be sick, and often vomiting at night for some reason. And some times I remember having this weird "dream" of the room being larger, but I saw it from a different perspective, so it looked smaller. It also felt weird, can't really explain how.

Another thing I can remember is that I lied in my bed and couldn't sleep, but for some reason I could see a pokemon game going on on my window, and I was controlling it. And I couldn't find out what to do so I just ran around, for what felt like forever. Weird stuff.

I used to get this all the time.  Turned out to be caused by my sleep apnea -- being deprived of oxygen when I would stop breathing right in the middle of  REM sleep would cause me to wake up in a half-awake state.  Now that I've had my apnea treated, I haven't had this in years.

I didn't know what this was so I had to look it up on wikipedia. That seems really scary. Can you speak at all while having it?

" i've had it happen pretty frequently for about a week (finals week) and my number one advise is to stay calm. it's not going to kill you, it's just a temporary phenomenon that occurs when you're in such a deep sleep that your brain disconnects from your muscles for a bit. if you sleep on your side it eliminates the risk for sleep paralysis. you probably don't want to sleep face up or face down if you're afraid of this. claustrophobic people tend to have a greater fear of sleep paralysis. "
I sleep on my side, that explains a lot.

Never had that, but I have become conscience of when I'm dreaming at times though.

My favorite dreams, and I've been remembering them recently due to the nature of a summer schedule, are the ones that I don't realize i'm sleeping yet have an adventure.
For example, maybe a week ago or so, I had a dream I had something that was essentially a dimension hopper.  Trick was that I had no control to which one I went to and I'd take over the body of myself in that dimension.  It sounds like a sci-fi story, but experiencing it when you think it's real is quite scary and a bit panicy.  Great dream though.  I'd give it a 9.4.

When I was quite younger though, I had this recurring dream that I hated.  Quite literally all I remember is that it was from a floating camera view point essentially, and I saw a slightly titled platform with a pyramid geometric shape moving towards another  undefined shape.  Abstract colors of pinks and purples.

I don't know why, but that scared me so bad.  It wasn't even like a nightmare because even when I woke up I still was in huge fear and crying.  Even at the time I knew I had no reason to be afraid and that the dream itself had no characteristics of a scary dream.  That being said, it was almost like pure fear.  I'm sort of having worried emotions writing about it now for some reason.  It's weird.

* Typically i find that when your a kid, you'll have dreams about straight up scary thigns.  When you get older, you have dreams about scarier situations.  And while my dreams are of a fantasy nature, they're mostly based in a realistic world.
