I saw this movie today and it was great for its action, but everything else sucked.

Seriously, Meghan Fox talked wayyyyyy too much and the cliche running from the explosion sequence was stupid , as was the cliche "HES DEAD" moment, most of the comedy would only be funny to an 14 year old and the story gave me headaches. Also i gotta wonder why the soldiers kept firing bullets towards the robots, when they just bounced off every time....

However the new robots were interesting (Especially the college girl with the metal tongue, didn't see that coming.), they talked about how Obama was president in their universe and there was a ton of action to enjoy. Also Meghan Fox was still there which always helps (She just shouldn't be given much dialogue)

Have any of you seen it? What do you think?

I wasn't a fan of the first one and everyone said it was amazing so if people are saying the second one sucks I would probably lose my mind if I watched it.

I want to like that movie more, but I it could have been way better. I feel like it was trying to hard to please everyone.

The childish humor is what really ruined it for me.

I hated the first one so I won't even bother with the second. Why doesn't everyone just rent the original movie instead? Plus, Megan Fox is greasy and gross, with ugly thumbs.

I am going to go see it later today. You beat me to it though. I was going to ask someone who seen it was Megan Fox's grease factor as high in this one.

The thing that bothers me with these types of movies is that none of it is really there. The robots are completely CG so it's like "who cares?"

That's why Japanese monster movies deliver for me on those kinds of thrills. Even though it's puppets and/or dudes in suits getting shot at with firecrackers, at least they are trying. THAT to me is movie magic.

There is nothing in this movie that can't be fixed with a little editing.

Hell I can do it right here and now.

Cut all the footage of every failed attempt at comedy.  That alone would make it much more enjoyable to me. It would darken the story a little bit, which is always good. And cut the run time down closer to 2 hours rather than the excruciating 2 hours 30 minutes that it is. The "Twins" would not exist in my cut either.

I hope some film student who is a Transformers fan can mercifully reedit Transformers 2. That's all it really needs in my opinion.

@Omega: Hell, it's been done for Spider-Man 3, and The Phantom Menace, so I don't see why not.

I disagree. Especially with the "the comedy would only be funny to 14 year olds" part. That is an asinine comment. I've seen the movie three times now and the first time I saw it, no one under 20 was in the theatre, and almost everyone had a good laugh at different times. Stop trying to act like your mature by knocking on something stupid. The comedy appeals to some, and not to others but that doesn't mean if you did find it funny, that your are immature. As for the dying scenes, I found them all to be quite emotional and well done. The acting was fairly well done with Shia giving another great performance (I'm a Shia fan) and even Megan was very good. Although I never thought she was a horrible actor to start with.

Your other point is just stupid. The bullets were clearly subduing the Decepticons, and the one thing no one can honestly complain about in a Michael Bay movie is the action. It's always sublime.

Actually quite the opposite I felt. It tried only to please people who were fans of the first movie and just wanted something similar with an upped ante.

She wasn't the greatest agreed. She had her moments though.

@LiquidPrince:  Ok, while I'm sure the jokes worked for some people (I thought the parachute scene with the soldiers was really funny) can you really defend the robot testicles? Can they be justified in any way?

I thought Jetfire talking about how his grandfather was the first wheel was funny.

Also wasn't suppose to be funny but the lines:
"We need you Sam"
"You don't need me. Your Optimus Prime"

how true

I dunno. The people sitting behind me were laughing pretty hard as were the chicks sitting next to me.

Behold, I will some up the awesomeness of Michael Bay's Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen in one sentence.

Shia Labuffet goes to Autobot heaven.

If you go into the theatre with the right mindset, it's a fun movie to watch.  Obviously, you don't go to see a Michael Bay film for the superior acting/writing/directing.  You go to see explosions and to make fun of the movie.  I laughed at a lot of the jokes not because they were funny, but because they were so unfunny, they were funny.  That sentence is more complex than any of the writing you'll find in the film by the way.

However, a part of me dies and I lose hope for the future when I hear people treat the film with legitamacy, and deem it to be a quality piece of work, which it is not.

So on my rating scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being best, here's what I thought:

Quality: 2
CGI: 3
Explosions: 5
Story: 1
Fun: 5
Acting: 2
Robots: 5
Intelligent: 1
Awesomeness: 5

I'm going to see it on monday i think. I'm not expecting more than some big-budget popcorn action and a few entertaining set-pieces.

Yeah, I saw it yesterday and came out underwhelmed. The comedy was mostly stupid, and sometimes would stop the main story dead in it's tracks, just for a joke. I know it's a robot movie, so it's already over the top, but a gangsta-like robot with a 'gold tooth'? For the hero's to reach their destination in the end sequence took literly 45 minutes then the movie was over 5 minutes later. I found the cursing to be offensive in a movie, which is based on toys. The fact that every 'female' in the movie either had big breasts and big lips or was totally stupid really delievers a great message to all the teenage boys.

the movie was just what I expected from a Michael Bay movie. I did like it. The storyline was just used to make excuses to blow shit up, which was awesome. And as liquidprince said, there were a couple of scenes which made me laugh.

The action sequences were sick in this movie, props to the CGI Department. The plot was just wtf and the humor was kinda juvenile, but hey, I wanted to see some good robot fighting and I came out pleased in that respect. I won't lie though and say some of the humor did make me laugh.

I drove over only to find out that the only session not sold out was the last session of the night, and since it goes for 2.5hrs and since I have to get up for work at 4.30am I'll wait to go see it until maybe tomorrow but probably next weekend. I dont really go out on work nights much especially when I have to set up for a radio promotion the next day.

Not surprise that people are saying it sucks. I've said it many times before and I'll say it again, the first film sucked ass and the second one looks like it's continuing that trend.

First film was kinda meh. Just explosions and metal junk. Sure to thrill some but it didn't appeal to me much. The only decent thing Michael Bay has done recently is The Island. Watch that, at least that has a better plot, even though it prompted a lawsuit. Just there's a crazy amount of advertiseing in The Island - Xbox, MSN, Calvin Klein and more advertisements use.

all I have to know is one thing, every one clapped and hooted and hollared at the end of the movie in my theater so it must have been good.
I liked it.
