Favorite Patrick content/moments?

Mods are welcome to harass me if this belongs in his going-away thread, but by my judgement it deserved a topic of its own.

If Patrick is to be believed, we'll be seeing his face on the site again before too long. Still, seeing him leave has definitely had an impact on me. I've found myself going through old content, and I'd like to share a couple of my favorites.

Spookin' with Scoops, with the rift! Spookin' is the feature that originally brought me on as a premium member, just over a year ago actually. The episode where he puts on the rift is one of the more intense and interesting GB features.

Also, his article on collusion in the fighting game community was very insightful. It sparked a greater interest in the scene for me as well.

First thing that comes to mind is Patrick rolling a four on the Fortune Street TNT.

All I have to say is: "Stay the fuck out of district A". I loved fortune street.

What was that co op horror game he and Vinny QL'ed? That's probably in my top 5 QL's ever.

Pretty much every Spookin' With Scoops was amazing. Was pretty much the number one reason I ever subscribed. I remember that terrible Halloween movie game was particularly great, though. That and Blair Witch Project.

That time on the Bombcast where someone wrote in about Subway and Patrick gave a sincere sounding "happy birthday" (Subway was advertising their birthday all over the place at the time). Jeff started laughing because he thought Patrick was just referring to the emailer getting to go to Subway as a birthday gift. It doesn't really sound funny written out, but it has stuck with me for a long time (mostly because of Patrick's delivery).

I'll say that Spelunky episode when he and Max called up Jeff in the middle of one of his Mixlr driving streams. Best appreciated if you can play both the Spelunky video and Mixlr archive in sync.

I was skeptical when Patrick first came to Giantbomb, but I think I started to come around to Patrick when he was on the Chrono Trigger Endurance Run with Ryan.

Such a great god damn feature!

And, most memorable to me personally, since I happened to be involved: Odetta slaying poor me after dropping all the humanity in the world.

I think Spelunkin' With Scoops was my favourite Patrick feature. It was nice to see him take a deep dive on a game and really understand its mechanics, if only because I feel like we didn't get to hear Patrick talk about mechanics-heavy games very often.

For me it was when he was playing P.T., that whole video was awesome, but my favorite part is probably when he was screaming "I don't want to play this game anymore"

Patrick playing P.T. or the Rift will stay in my heart forever. Pretty much every Spookin' deserves to be in this thread. But my personal favorite was the Dark Souls playthrough. Not site content, but awesome nonetheless. Specifically him fighting the gargoyles, winning and discovering in that exact moment of elation why Dark Souls is loved so much.

He's responsible for me becoming addicted to Spelunky earlier this year. I adored that series.

I also really liked his horror stuff. Being a big fan of horror myself, it was nice to watch someone play through scary games without trying too hard to show off a personality (as per the youtube standard). He simply enjoys exploring the genre, and I really liked watching him along the way.

I hope the format in which he does this sort of content doesn't change a great deal, wherever he ends up. Even if it was just the occasional live stream on the side, I'd hate to lose that stuff.

His silent, shell-shocked reaction to that Kraken game for the Rift was faaaaantastic.

As well, any time he let Pixel make an appearance. What a silly pup.

So many moments, but one that hasn't been mentioned before is when he played that Outlast DLC and he was basically saying "Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm Okkkkkkkkk" during that scene when you see the character's testicles/penis

Really, I don't have specific moments, I just loved all his live shows though - genuinely my favourite live content on the site. It was especially great being there for his Spelunky journey.

I really liked the GDC after hours show he was on before he was hired at GB. I don't think it's in teh bombcast feed so you'd have to dig for it. GDC Patrick is the best Patrick.

Edit: Also from before Patrick was at GB, the episode of Feedback where him, Matt Kiel and Abby Heppie explain Deadly Premonition to Adam Sessler. It's also from the week where he broke the news about Infinity Ward. It's a good episode of what was a really great show at the time that nobody watched.

I loved this episode of Spelunkin' - Max, Dave and Pat were awesome in the videos that they put out.

For humor: "Did that say Cyber Raptor?". Oh man. That could not have been more perfectly timed. Also, almost everything on Spookin', and the hot dog suit.

For seriouses: That one fan-made Ryan tribute game that Patrick played on Worth Playing. His silence completely broke me. What an incredible, raw moment.

So much this. That was fucking glorious.

When people say you'll see them again, it's to make goodbyes less painful. Really, you won't see him again anytime soon. Maybe around E3 or another big convention, but ya. You'll see him as much as you've seen Dave on the site since he left.

Best moment, though? There's plenty. After he grew into his own (which moving to Chicago really helped him do) he really found his niche bouncing off other people. All the stuff he did with Dave Lang and Max Tempkin was great.

Most awkward, though. I can't let his leaving go without remembering this little bit of insanity:

The best Patrick content is definitely the Fortune Street TNT, the SimGolf Stream, and the BioForge stuff (all of these largely thanks to the other participants... sorry).

Has he said what he's up to next? I feel a little out of the loop here. I'm just wondering if he mentioned it somewhere since I haven't sifted through all the GB content in a couple weeks.

Not directly, no. He has hinted at keeping on covering games in some fashion, as he said he'll have to keep going to E3 and PAX.

I liked the Unprofessional Fridays video where Patrick was playing Cat Mario.

He finally jumps over the flag pole, only to realize (thanks to Jeff) that he passed the flagpole and all his efforts were useless.

Can't find any evidence of it off hand, but whenever Patrick's adventures in Jukebox Trolling were mentioned or discussed it was a super entertaining time.

That time Keiffer Sutherland attacked him on Spooking. I was watching it live, and nearly cried laughing.

That time when someone invaded Patrick in Dark Souls, dropped a dung pie and left.

That Spelunky ghost escape was life-changing.

You wouldn't happen to know which Worth Playing that was would you? I don't seem to recall that and I'd really like to see it.

Backflips n' Biofroge would not have happened without Patrick and that feature was my first introduction to Danny, so that by far is my Patrick content.

I'm rather partial to the contrast between Dan and Patrick's tweets on the front page, in addition to all of the other great moments.
