Sony has announced that starting tomorrow, October 9, the Playstation 4 is getting $50 cheaper. Holiday shoppers will be able to pick up a PS4 and a game (either the Nathan Drake Collection or Star Wars: Battlefront) for $349.99. That's the case for American shoppers, anyway. Canadians will be paying $429.99 for the same bundles (just a $20 drop from the previous price).
This cut puts the PS4 and Xbox One back on even footing as far as price is concerned. Last holiday season, Microsoft took a big step in combatting the early dominance of the PS4 (or at least the early perceived dominance) by offering Xbox One bundles at a reduced price of $349, a price cut that they decided to extend permanently early this year.
There is no word yet on whether these new bundles will be sold at GameStop. The retailer recently decided to stop stocking bundles that featured digital game copies. While Sony's announcement didn't specifically say these bundles would include digital copies, that has been the growing trend for the last couple of years. I guess we'll have to wait and see if GameStop's prices change tomorrow.
