This is such a dumb yet clever use of technology, I can't help but be impressed. Grayson Hopper got his first Pokémon in about 125 hours. I thought the original Twitch Plays Pokémon was a brilliant idea and it quickly spawned a few copycats, but now I'm wondering how many people out there are rushing to create their own versions of this one and have their birds or snakes or whatever play Pokémon.

Just let this sink in for a second - all the people who struggle to get 100 or 200 viewers on their streams that actually offer some insightful or funny commentary or compelling gameplay, and here we have a fish with over 10,000 people watching it swim aimlessly around a little tank. I once heard that fish are so dumb that if they're swimming around their tank in a circle, by the time they get back to where they started they forgot they've ever been there before. Not sure what that says about the thousands of people watching Grayson right now, but hey...go watch AAAABBK the Charmander do battle!

What is the Internet doing to humanity?

yup.... That's a fish playing pokemon.

#5 Posted by UncleBenny (480 posts) -

so... um... so the player is still stuck in his room after 135 hours, hurray

Don't forget to embed!

Can't wait to see Grayson migrate over to hitbox.tv!

My biggest ever audience was about 90 when I streamed the Destiny beta on PS3.

Grayson just utterly destroys me, and most other, streamers.

Right when I popped in the fish finally made it out of the room and got stuck on the television. Oops, wrong side. This doesn't seem nearly as interesting as TPP from a viewer standpoint.

EDIT 2 Minutes later he went back to his room. This is a wash and will never get anywhere.

God I love the internet...

and miss my two goldfish, rest in peace buddies.

Hate to say this, but the fish (and likely all the viewers as well) will probably die before he ever beats the elite four.

That motherfucker is streaming licensed Pokemon music. Let's get that motherfucker.

#11 Posted by MB (13139 posts) -

@fattony12000: I didn't forget to embed it, I chose not to...which is why I gave the link instead. But thanks.

#12 Posted by MooseyMcMan (11412 posts) -

I don't think this fish is ever going to beat Pokemon.

#13 Posted by TooWalrus (13258 posts) -

I don't think Fish Plays Pokemon is going to be the hot new thing. Unless we're talking about Phil Fish, I guess.

Gotta keep those #Teens #Monetised and #Engaged on your #WebZone!

I don't think this fish is ever going to beat Pokemon.

Twitch chat managed to!

No offense to the fish, but this is one of the dumbest things I've ever seen.

Have to admit the technology behind it is impressive though. Makes me wonder what people will come up with now that the Kinect SDK for Windows is available.

#17 Posted by MooseyMcMan (11412 posts) -

@fattony12000: Twitch chat may have been thousands of people arguing against each other, but there was some semblance of intelligence there. Not so with a fish.

Still better than Brad though.

We prefer #Monetized with a z as it resonates more with a younger audience.

Fun fact: You can donate all your bitcoins to Grayson Hopper if you want to.

Meh, I would watch a pup play Pokemon, but not a fish. I think I draw the line at legged amphibious creatures.

#25 Posted by MB (13139 posts) -

@bbalpert: The stream may be objectionable because Grayson isn't wearing any clothes.

#26 Posted by streetninja (155 posts) -

This is the right amount of dumb so I can't be mad this has a lot of views.

I sense a connection here. Also, this is never gonna work.

YES! The evolution of twitch streaming. Hopefully they don't cut out the audio cause of copyright infringement!

- Quite surprised the fish made it downstairs in the house.

#29 Posted by bboymaestro (428 posts) -

"Viewers have indicated this stream may have objectionable material..." is this in regards to the chat, or the fish?

#30 Posted by Pie (7113 posts) -

It doesn't even work properly though. The fish is completely still and the guy is moving.

#31 Posted by Clonedzero (4196 posts) -

This is gloriously dumb.

#32 Posted by ShaggE (6719 posts) -

Makes sense... a fish in a stream.

#33 Posted by BisonHero (7068 posts) -

@pie: Yeah, I watched it like half an hour ago, and it seemed wicked frozen.

22000 people now.

I am one of them.

EDIT - The chat is insane .The fish almost got down the stairs and it exploded. This is a bizarre thing that is happpening.

22000 people all watching a fish play a videogame, and everyone spouting insane nonsense at breakneck speed.

Ladies and gentlemen, The Internet.

#36 Posted by Rowr (5824 posts) -

While clever, this is only entertaining for a few minutes given how long it takes for anything to happen.

Cool idea though.

I find the chat quite entertaining. It's chaos. End times.

For a minute there it was bursting with ASCII penises. Lots of them.

Pfffft. Whatever. My pug could capture Porkchachu and Chotskyblammer in sixty hours.
