General Ryan T. Davis

So, I have a favour to ask of you all, fellow duders.

I need you to do your very best to send me/post images to this thread, in the highest quality and resolution possible...I know, kinda weird right? Don't worry, it's for a good cause...

All I can tell you right now is that as a result of this blog post that I made on the 11th of July (http://www.giantbomb.com/profile/fattony12000/blog/fatbomb-follow-your-bliss/102132/), Ryan's family and I have been in email contact. As a part of these conversations I have been asked to perform the aforementioned task, we are after anything and everything that is awesome and good that you fine people have crafted upon your analogue or digital canvasses. These images could be original works in acrylic, clay or Photoshop, but also any great photos that you may have of Ryan too. The image that sparked this recent request was the superb work of @rexcellent, with his rexcellent tribute to The General, above. We are after works of similar rexcellence.

Above and beyond my request, this thread will also stand as a memorial to Ryan's memory, and the impact he had on those moved to create such great pieces of artistic merriment.

I thank you.

PS

If this thread blows up/breaks/gets locked off, please contact me through the email address heightofthegame@gmail.com, or PM me, or hit me up on Twitter.

Addendum

Is anyone able to get a higher resolution version of this particular image? As well as others similar to it?

Jaunty jokes on set

Development Roadmap

To add.

  1. All users will be credited, where possible.
  2. All users will be linked to via whatever online handles/sources/sites/forum posts they are willing to provide.

You won't find bigger because it's from a 720p video.

We need something on black velvet. The man would have wanted that.

Hey @fattony12000, you may want to send messages to the various talented duders of the In Memoriam thread. (Pics start on page 4) In case this thread falls through the cracks. Perhaps @marino could spotlight this?

#10 Posted by TheHT (11284 posts) -

I did this. Not the background though.

Well why don't you actually go out and do something about that then, huh? HUH!? FOR A CHANGE? FOR ONCE IN YOUR LIFE!?

LOL JK.

Thanks for the info, I had suspected that that might be the case. Regardless, the call is still out there to anyone whom can steal the original footage from the Giant Bomb crew. Apparently Mr. Davis has attempted to gain a hold of some better quality footage/stills from the staff already, but if everyone here can just keep trying.

Always be trying.

JUST TRY, FOR ONCE IN YOUR LIVES, CHRIST.

x

I don't have any digital works, but I have a super-high res scan of the scratchboard portrait I did of him.

Superb!

This is an awesome collection. I'm glad people more talented than me make cool shit.

I haven't being drawing/digital painting for very long (other than doodling in my school years and such) and I was trying to copy akihiko yoshida's style somewhat and used a familiar face for a reference and in the end thought I'd post it here.

@fattony12000: Thanks for doing this. It's late; so, I'm just going to post some various images that I have at the moment. If you reply and remind me today, I can hunt down who made each one. :)

That's some fine work as it is! Once you have a bit more practice you'll surely be dropping the phattest of phat art.

Also, it's Robin's birthday today (Ryan's brother), his dad said we should hit him up on Twitter (@minitoar) and spread our love all over him.

Er.

Haha! I was about to post my Notorious R.T.D. portrait, but I see you've already found it. I'm glad that you're doing this for his family.

Side note: Surprisingly enough, I do have a larger file of that image (18 X 24 inches at 300dpi CMYK) that they can probably print out as a poster or something. Hit me up if you want me to send that sucker your way.

Here is a massive version of the typographic poster I made, in case you wanted a larger version of it.

Thank you for the Taswell Art. We will be using some of these at the private memorial for family and close friends. People who knew Ryan as a boy, teachers, neighbors etc. (If you have more, we can still use more. We are printing them as photos, so the file size needs to be 100kb.

That one is still my favourite, seriously nice work. The last sprite still kills me a little every time I see it as well.

#25 Posted by Grievus (19 posts) -

Hope you still need more art. I just finished this one. I think Ryan would have liked it.

@twolines: Seriously absolutely love that, top work my friend. Outstanding.

I made this car in Forza 4 a while back after having made the vinyl in F3. Original artwork is from the Bombcast header image done by Kat Smith aka @turbo_toaster recreated in the Forza editor with several hundred vinyl layers.

Here's the one I did, there's an accompanying video of it's creation.

I made this a while ago. Kinda felt like a fun idea then. I hope Ryan is in a better place now. Bless

Not technically 'art' but here's Bob Backlund with me holding a memorial sign to Ryan I'd made for the WWE Money in the Bank PPV.

It took me a while, but I finally got around to finishing it. Rest in Peace Ryan.

These are so fuckin' awesome. Wish I had an artistic bone in my body, but my lack of talent just makes me appreciate these beautiful creations even more.

Made this and got a bunch of them printed as stickers awhile ago, but just now seeing this thread! Great stuff from everyone else that has posted.
