Tonight's episode, Game Of Thrones + Next Gen Consoles. This season has been pretty hit and miss but damn really liked this episode maybe. They also dressed up as the Lord Of Rings Characters from the Two Towers episode which is one of my favorites, always love when they bust out old show references.

Definitely a recommendation, even if you have not been up to snuff on the show.

Uhh? I need to watch!! I'll probably pick up this season digitally or whenever. Cool shit.

#3 Edited by Sarnecki (693 posts) -

I laughed my ASS off watching this. This is going to be one of those awesome epic South Park multi part stories.

#4 Posted by Humanity (9856 posts) -

Topical as always.

#5 Edited by MAN_FLANNEL (2462 posts) -

This will probably be a three parter, airing the last one the week of black friday. And I lol'd so hard at the pedo elmo joke.

#6 Posted by GTCknight (704 posts) -

Alright, I haven't watched South Park in maybe a year (might be more than that). However, That episode was pretty dam great.

Cartman's comment concerning pre-ordering was spot on. Can't post it here since it can get me warned and/or banned.

#8 Posted by Seppli (10251 posts) -

But the Xbox One doesn't have more frames - dammit!

#9 Edited by Chaser324 (6716 posts) -

FYI: This episode is now up on SouthParkStudios. Not sure what regional restrictions Viacom applies to all of that Comedy Central stuff, but I guess at the very least if you're in the US you can see it there.

I watched the Minecraft ep recently and I was fooled! I was drawn it by Minecraft and thought it would like the WoW episode but with Minecraft and it was really about the adults needing to watch their 'murder porn' shows to get off and how cable companies have you over a barrel.

I hope this isn't the same type of thing, lured in by one thing and it ends up being about something else. Although in this case I like Game of Thrones so that'd be okay I guess, although that kind've seems like a late reference to make?

#11 Edited by flasaltine (1695 posts) -

Wow. That episode was one of the best in a long time.

"Pre-order games and you get a big dick your your mouth." So true. People need to stop pre-ordering.

"Some assholes in California haven't even finished working on yet." Haha, I cant believe they even took jabs at Obsidian @rorie

"Brack Friday Bunduru"

All the Game of Thrones references were funny as fuck.

#12 Posted by cmblasko (1322 posts) -

Yeah, that was an awesome episode. Even without understanding all of the Game of Thrones references I still really enjoyed it and am excited to see how it concludes next week.

#13 Posted by spraynardtatum (3513 posts) -

soooooooo damn good. I have loved this season. When the security guard pulls his eye scar off and puts it on Randy I lost my shit.

I wonder if they said that Xbox One has more frames to start a flame war. I can't wait to see next week. I bet they make it three parts so they can include the xbox one launch response too. Next weeks episode is probably going to be about how PS4 is received.

I liked all the gaming stuff, obviously, but I loved Butters talking about game of thrones obsession with gay/flaccid penises. Knowing South Park, I get a feeling that's going to be the next episodes pay off in some way.

#15 Posted by OneKillWonder_ (1803 posts) -

This episode was fucking hilarious; second best of the season so far, behind the World War Zimmerman episode. The Brack Friday Bunduru coming with a map of Japan was funny as hell. I love how South Park is like the only show that talks about video games in a knowledgeable and on-point manner. I'm truly intrigued to see how this finishes. If only the rest of the season was this good!

#16 Posted by BigJeffrey (5144 posts) -

Tonight's Episode was pretty good as well, Part 3 Next Week.

Did anybody else find a bad taste in their mouths after seeing the Xbox One commercials before, during, and after the episode? It would've been fine if there were PS4 commercials, too, but only have one of the consoles just feels....wrong.

Yes, because that's how advertizing on Comedy Central works...honestly, I've seen multiple car company commercials on channels like CBS before, but CC has never been that kind of place.

I can't help but feel I would enjoy these episodes a lot more if I watched Game of Thrones.

#21 Posted by BigJeffrey (5144 posts) -

Yeah that would help alot.

#22 Posted by Butano (1774 posts) -

Man, Trey and Matt must be having a blast with these episodes. Bill Gates murdering Steve Balmer, the reporters being in an incestual relationship, no signs of dragons or pizza, and Kenny turning into an anime princess.

This....this may just beat out Imaginationland as my favorite South Park episodes ever. And I'm super bummed Stick of Truth isn't out til next year....

"Ha! How's it feel to be the one being led around the Betrayal Garden this time?!"

#24 Posted by Sparky_Buzzsaw (6344 posts) -

Seeing Martin get skewered for stalling was a delight.

So uh, Kenny's outfit is Zelda from Twilight Princess..... they designed this well before game of thrones? How old is this design?

#26 Edited by Korwin (2983 posts) -

All I can think of watching these episodes is how pumped I am for Stick of Truth. I can only assume that this is exactly the same vibe that the game will have :P

#27 Posted by Oldirtybearon (4867 posts) -

I'd love to watch these episodes, but I can't tell if the GoT references are from the books or the TV show. Considering all the assholes who want to spoil what's going to happen next season (and the season after that, and after that, et cetera), I'm really paranoid about watching these.

#28 Posted by Opus (148 posts) -

@sparky_buzzsaw: Best part of the entire episode was his stalling. "Just wait a little more, it's going to be great! There'll be two... no, FIVE pizzas!". They're doing a great job when it comes to poking fun at game of thrones.

#29 Edited by Opus (148 posts) -

@oldirtybearon: I've only watched the first season thus far, any references with spoilers went over my head, but some internet forums like to call out which references are spoilers, so things are spoiled anyway! I'd watch it but be cautious if you want to chat about it online.

Though in a series like Game of Thrones a spoiler here or there doesn't really matter in the long run, since it's more about seeing what leads up to it and how it actually goes down. I remember watching Jimmy Fallon during a break at work, he totally spoiled a huge plot point of Breaking Bad's fourth season, no warning or anything. I still found the show every bit as entertaining though.

Episode was great loved the ending.

#36 Posted by RollingZeppelin (2077 posts) -

The tie in at the ending was awesome, I love it when they make gaming related episodes.

#37 Posted by Daze (68 posts) -

Pretty good trilogy. The garden guy is great and Bill Gates reppin' MS-DOS 13.

#38 Posted by infantpipoc (71 posts) -

@rollingzeppelin: [SPOILER]

Got to say, I laughed my ass off the moment Cartman picked up the "stick of truth" before the ad cut-in and Butters' dick joke. Though I suspect that if the game was launched as planned back in last March(up against that bloody Tomb Raider), this 3-parter might become the DLC.

#39 Posted by infantpipoc (71 posts) -

@sparky_buzzsaw: I'm a little disappointed about that scene since that dude didn't say "For Theon!" when he did the deed. The TV episode featuring the infamous Red Wedding was written by Martin himself and I'm not so sure about the "modification" Martin made on Theon's arc.

Yeah I just think it's awesome that we get these three episodes are a sort of prologue to the game.

#41 Posted by OneKillWonder_ (1803 posts) -

I loved the ending, especially how they made fun of the game getting delayed over and over again. This was the best the show has been in awhile.

I know that Garden guy was the best and I realize he probably represents the audience watching. As for that final showdown, while I agree Gates had to win, the fanboy in me is a little annoyed they said "the xbone wins" at the end.

Best part is, I am trying to write the proper words to explain why it bothers and it all sounds so stupid and unimportant...because it is. If i had to sum it up: Sony in real life did better and are the underdog, Southpark is telling the public Xbox did better, therefore Sony is not getting the props it deserves. It sucks that I can stilll think like this.

I'm actually pretty hyped about the game now. Once I heard them talking about playing outside and making their own fun I knew they were going to transition into the game.

#44 Edited by crithon (3441 posts) -

soooooo, they are reusing art from the Obsidian game.... that could be over 4 years old and those backgrounds make me want plung forks into my eyeballs.

#45 Posted by spraynardtatum (3513 posts) -

South Park is one of the best shows of all time. I loved this string of episodes.

#46 Posted by Korwin (2983 posts) -

The Bill Gates/Kaz Hirai grudge match was pretty amusing.

#47 Edited by TheManWithNoPlan (5902 posts) -

I guess it's time for me to watch South Park again.

#48 Posted by Ares42 (2775 posts) -

@golguin: I thought it was pretty obvious the whole thing was a build up to the game from the get-go. As soon as I saw them using all the same costumes that they use in the game, and realizing how it timed up against the release date that got pushed just a few weeks earlier. Seemed like the most obvious thing you would do when you're releasing a game based on a tv series like South Park.

#49 Posted by McShank (1629 posts) -

I enjoyed it except for the fact that the Love of Playstation in me made the part where Bill won upset me. I personally dislike Micro$oft for how they do alot of their buisness even though I own some of their products And it Do not think the Xbone has won anything except for a lot of Criticism. Wish Southpark / Comedy central wasn't being sponsored by Micro$oft for this string of episodes. The Ending was pretty good otherwise.

Heh, you said Micro$oft.
