New "Leaks" Circulating

"Duck Hunt" being a character is on par with the Fighters Mega Mix car. I hope that's real.

Sad to say I was super excited to play as the Daytona car all the way up till the point where I actually played as the Daytona car.

I hope characters like Doctor Mario and Toon Link are a bit more differentiated this time round. I know clustered fighting rosters are cool and everything but I'd prefer it if they made room for unique characters. There's something about how the characters are arranged that makes me think this is fake, but I voted "real" before I saw the pictures ;p

If you remove the Duck Hunt dog then I would 100% believe this to be real.

The Mii fighter isn't in there. I could potentially see there being some weird way to select it, but there doesn't seem to be any reason they wouldn't have the usual button like Mario Kart or whatever. Or even more speculatory, if this is a 'ratings' build, they didn't put it in because it's 'user content'?

Dr. Mario had pill based attacks, what would Dark Pit have? He's the exact same just BIZARRO, same with Shadow Link, that's why they are always costumes.

Has anyone pointed out that Game & Watch's hand crosses over into Wario's picture? That seems like the biggest clue as to this "leak's" fakery.

@mooseymcman: It's been noted, but if you look closely you can see that isn't his hand, it's Wario's shadow.

These photos have been looked over so many times by Reddit, NeoGAF and 4chan and there's no real flaws in them that allow us to call fakes just yet. I personally don't want them to be real, but the evidence against them is almost non-existant at the moment and the evidence that they are true is pretty convincing. The character renders are unique and have not been found anywhere else yet, the stage select has a stage that is only shown in a magazine that came out AFTER the leaks hit, errors in the thickness of lines that people went back and can actually see happen in the 3DS E3 demo's ...

I just refuse to believe Ice Climbers are cut.

@corruptedevil I'm not sure if you've played the new Kid Icarus game, but Dark Pit (his name is actually Pittoo) is actually a completely different character. He doesn't have access to the three sacred treasures, so he has his own unique move set much like how Dark Samus in the Metroid Prime trilogy is not just a clone and has a wildly unique and interesting move set. This is why it's even more ridiculous to make him a clone.

Did not know that, been meaning to play it but just haven't gotten around to it (same with Triple Deluxe). Still could have been a costume but I now see the argument for him being a separate character (though I still think that spot would be better served for literally any other character).

I'm still really sad Pokemon Trainer was removed, but I am getting slightly more excited for the game after seeing all of this.

It would have been cool if they'd have made Squirtle and Ivysaur separate characters like Charizard. I used to really like Squirtle.

There are 5 Pokemon in the game, is that not enough for you? There's no Wonder Red because there's too many fucking pokemon.

Here's my rule of thumb for potential Smash Bros. character leaks: If any of the "leaked" characters are surprisingly awesome, it's likely fake. Duck hunt dog is definitely skirting that line.

They also forgot Scorpion.

I can confirm this is fake. Wario's picture in that menu came right from Super Smash Bros Brawl's reveal trailer back in 2006 but only with his upper teeth blacked-out. GO to 1:27 of the trailer and see.

Edit: I would be pumped up about Duck Hunt dog if that is an actual character in the new Smash though.

The ESRB don't actually play the games, do they? That seems like the most conspicuous thing about these images.

But even if they do, there's the whole, "I could have input my name as literally anything, but I entered it as ESRB0083 because I love my job so much and I want my bosses to know it was me who leaked this!" logic that would have to follow.

The ESRB doesn't play the games. The developers take video of all content that would require rating descriptions and send it to the review board.

If I had to guess, they're absent because they're disabled for competitive play ("for glory" or whatever they call it, I think).

If it's fake, then where did the Duck Hunt render come from, I wonder?
