Nintendo's home console that can be turned into a portable device by removing it from its TV-dock. Launched worldwide on March 3, 2017.
You Preordering the nintendo switch?
I don't have much interest in buying Nintendo Switch but I'm most definitely interested in what plans Nintendo has in store for its next console.
I'd say probably not, because I'm about to start grad school in a week. Between being more conservative with my money and realistically thinking "Do I need this at launch?" the answer is obviously no.
Do I want one? Yes. That said, I'll probably get one in the fall or something.
No. I'm going to wait until the last year of its lifecycle when it'll finally have enough games to justify a purchase, like every Nintendo console.
I have done very well waiting 6-12 months for new consoles and buying them up cheap on the used market. No reason to stop now.
Pre-ordering a console seems like a bad idea since launch software is often overpriced and undercooked. I have a much nicer life when I snap them up for $20 a year later and am able to temper my expectations.
I'm just one of those people that has to see this shit day one. Like--if it's a train wreck I want to be standing in the front row close enough to feel the flames. If it's great then whatever, I get a great console.
I hear the people who say "no pre-orders" but I see a gulf of difference between pre-ordering a console and pre-ordering a game.
I'm gonna wait a year to see how it shakes out. I'm still not convinced that Nintendo will 100% nail it. I hope they do though.
Little early to be talking pre-orders I think. I'm interested in the console, sure. Right now we still don't know the price and frankly no one should buy something without knowing the price.
It's not as if gamestop is going to force you to plop down $500. Usually console preorders are $50 minimum down and, like all preorders, can be canceled. It's also supposed to be out in like 2 months, but we'll know more this evening.
There should have been a "Oh, Hell No" choice.
100%. not to be a buzzkill, but i can't produce a single personal reason to surrender large amounts of money based on a promise.
no judgement against those diving in, but i need to see how the thing performs before i'm an owner.
Preorder if you want to since most of us are grown ass adults who are capable of making decisions and it's our money anyway and doesn't affect you!
I'm really hoping Nintendo doesn't blow it by not having enough stock like the NES Classic. Seeing tweets from Nintendo's NYC Store that pre-orders will be in limited quantities. PRE-ORDERS. IN LIMITED QUANTITIES. How is that even possible? Don't they need to see the demand in order to allocate stock? By limiting how many of these that can be pre-ordered at a location, it's smelling like eBay resale bait all over again, and that makes me upset at Nintendo...
That being said, I'm going to try and pre-order one anyways...because I'm a fool that wants Nintendo to succeed.

Same, I don't quite understand how Nintendo could somehow already know that it wont have enough stock; I hope the Nintendo NYC thing is just specific to the store and not just pre-orders for all stores.

If was unlimited, an ebay scalper could go and pre-order 500, and then nobody else would stand a realistic chance of getting one.
'One per customer' is still a limited quantity.
I'm in no rush to get another console right now. I'll probably wait until there's some kind of deal.
Hearing rumours that there might be a supply shortage of just 2 million worldwide at launch I might just preorder just to be safe as that's the system I want to play Breath of the Wild on.
If there's 2 or more launch games that I want to play, and the base model is under $300... sure. I'm not expecting it.

NEVER PREORDER!!!
I came here to issue this statement. Do not pre-order things. Ever.
@eddiephlash: I stand by my "Nintendo consoles have always been worth owning" streak.
I'm very interested in what they're going to show, and I'll quite likely pick one up.
That said, I don't think I'd ever pre-order a console. I may well consider ordering one just after release, but I'm not getting it ahead of time. I doubt it'll have something I can't wait to get my hands on at launch, but hopefully by the end of this year it'll be at a point where I want to snag one.
I don't pre order anything, Unless it is limited run stuff. But for mass produced electronics I'm not worried about having it day one. I plan on buying it as soon as it comes out but I have no need to actually preorder it.
If that thing's $250 like the rumors suggest I could see myself putting up for one. Otherwise? Nope. I can wait.
Depends on the reveal. Actually, that will only support me buying it. Pre-ordering a console seems like a fools errand. I doubt it will release botched, or anything of the sort; but I can't imagine it will have a release line-up worth spending the large chunk first, and then the subsequent purchases to get the games.
That all depends, though, so we'll see.
If there's a sweet looking 3d Mario trailer, and the price is 300 or less, I doubt I could restrain myself.
It comes down to price and what is actually available at launch. I could see myself buying it if say it launched with a Monster Hunter (Generations G or whatever it is/will be called) and a Mario game.
Guess we'll find out relatively quickly!
I get that the Wii-U secretly had an okay selection of games that the majority of people who didn't have one don't think about, but given that you only have to look back to the Wii to find an underpowered machine not at all targeted at our market, why would you be confident enough in the Switch to place a pre-order?
