After the 48 hour stream I've been wanting to jam some wind. Does anyone know of a way to play Windjammers without doing it the hard way? Who owns the rights to windjammers? Why hasn't it been released on current consoles yet?

I'd love to see a re release. I didn't even know it existed till the Gb crew played it.

I'd buy the hell out of that

I've been running a neo geo emulator to play it with my brothers a lot lately. I just hook my laptop up to my tv and then plug some gamepads to a usb hub and pretty soon we're jamming wind.

I would love to see a remake/re-release of Windjammers. With online multiplayer in addition to the local multiplayer, it would be awesome.

Would buy. Windjammers IS reports.

isn't windjammers just pong with dudes instead of bats?

I am anxiously awaiting the announcement from Dave Lang that Iron Galaxy has bought the US rights to Windjammers and a new game set in the Divekick universe will be released Summer 2014.

You can be playing Windjammer ass Windjammers right now on GGPO.

I had never heard of it before. After watching them play I wouldn't mind playing it for myself. I wonder why it isn't on Xbox Live or another marketplace for download considering some of the games they have put there.

That last match between Vinny and Jeff for the 24 hour live stream was the greatest E-sports match of all time.

i really enjoyed watching them play that on the problematic gta5 stream. never heard of it. id like to play it but i fear my controller would be thrown through my wall

I would be so down for an arcade/psn version of windjammers. It's the kind of game I want to get really good at.

Now simplified streamlined to only use 2 buttons! One button Winds, the other button Jams.

I would play the shit out of a Windjammers rerelease. I've been idly pondering taking the steps necessary to like, get Neo Geo shit running just for this game after seeing these streams.

Crazy Power Disc:

I dunno where you get the game from though.

It's on the net, but there's no practical/sane way to obtain it legitimately. Doesn't help that Doujin games are crazy rare to begin with.

You guys should check out a program called MameHub for all your online WindJammer needs!!

Yeah sure why not if it releases on any of the digital stores.

Was real hyped for those Windjammers matches.

After some shaky starts, the duders ascended to the highest level of jammin broadcasted ever. EVER.

I totally played this the other night :P

I actually searched the Wii shop because there's lots of random NeoGeo games on there...and unfortunately Windjammers isn't on there. Dang it!

#29 Posted by Nightriff (5322 posts) -

What would I need to get to play Windjammers like Jeff does? I don't understand Neo Geo or what I would be buying or anything. Any help in what would be required to play the right way would be most appreciated.

#30 Posted by Forcen (1854 posts) -

I just want the Virtual console version to release outside of Japan.

#31 Edited by Brackynews (4094 posts) -

@nightriff: IIRC Jeff is playing on a Neo Geo home console (AES) with a Windjammers MVS arcade cart. You can also obtain it on a Neo Geo CD. I sadly don't know enough about the Neo to say whether or not the debug/multi-regional settings that Jeff uses is particular to a certain version.

@mormonwarrior: Load this up in google translate. ;) http://www.vc-neogeo.d4e.co.jp/title_neogeo/flyingpowerdisc/index.html

#32 Posted by MormonWarrior (2658 posts) -

@brackynews: Oh maaaaannnn but it's not available outside of Japan. Goshdangit.

I would pay real money, and maybe bit coins, for a fun Wind Jammers remake or HD remix style release.

I'd be interested in this only if it includes authentic Jeff Ai I can play against. Assuming the ps4 or xbone is capable of such a feat.

If Iron Galaxy or some other studio that the GB crew is familiar with ever gets the rights to do something like that, I really hope they consider doing that. Base the computer's AI routines on Jeff's actual gameplay style. That'd be pretty cool for those of us who are "in the know".

#36 Posted by UitDeToekomst (742 posts) -

it could be cool, but much like the above-mentioned DiveKick, I would probably never play it, because I have no interest in playing games against others. sure would be fun to watch lengthy live streams of, though (especially if there is sleep deprivation involved).

@thefoxsoft: Sorry but the character animations when they use a powermove looks like a momentum killer. Are those something users can turn off so I can pretend to be hardcore serious gamer man? If so I'll give it a try.

So ... as a student project I created a 2-4 player competitive sports game similar to Windjammers and FIFA and I thought you guys might be interested in checking it out. Be warned though, it is still really early and is in development.

It's called GHARGE! and it's currently being developed by myself only haha. It originated as a school project at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, CT, for my "Building Games" course where we are attempting to learn Unity and some game development strategies.

Anyways, the game! It requires 2-4 Xbox 360 controllers to be hooked up BEFORE loading the game. Unity games have a problem with the way it recognizes controllers, and I'm not really sure why. You use the left stick to control movement and the A button for everything else. When you press A without holding the disc you dive a set distance. When holding the disc and a direction with the left stick you throw the disc in that direction. In all game modes you can traverse past the middle line to shoot the disc or to attempt to steal the disc from your opponent(s). When you shoot the disc and score from your half of the court you score 3 points, and from your opponent's court you score 1 point.

I'm still working on it but I would like to see what some other people think, apart from my colleagues and classmates.

Here's a dropbox link for the zip containing an exe.

https://www.dropbox....E! DEMO 1.2.zip

I hope you guys like it, and thanks for trying GHARGE!

@ravage484: I would like to check it out, but it'd be easier if you had a Mac version of your game! Since you made it in Unity that should be pretty easy to make, right?

#44 Posted by ravage484 (63 posts) -

@snail: Yeah I should be able to make that happen. I'll be sure to let you know, right now the only problem is I don't have a mac to test on haha. I'll find one! Assuming you have the proper drivers for xbox 360 controllers.

#45 Posted by Snail (8659 posts) -

@ravage484: Yep, I have extensively used 360 controllers on this macbook before. If you need someone to test that out for you on a Mac platform, feel free to PM me!

It's been a while since I've posted anything relating to the project I was working on, so I figured I'd share it! http://mkrgames.com/?page_id=9 will bring you to my site, where you can play the most recent version of Gharge! using the web player. Same rules apply, and there are instructions inside in case you need em.

Have fun and gimmie some feedback!
