That is...a strange thing.

"With your inferior genitals I don't expect you to understand honey, but the Xbox One would be a great gift."

What the fuck?

Whoa, this is totally a real thing.

I don't get it

Read the options for the first little paragraph.

Did they fix it? Not seeing anything? If it is the sentence that xaLieNxGrEyx quoted then that sounds pretty intentional...haha. Maybe an angry employee.

What the fuck?

Damn. Did it really say this?^^

This is a pretty bold move to say these days^^

Yikes. I was pretty grossed out when I saw it referred to as a "persuasion apparatus" in their email. But why not add some casual sexism into the mix?!

#10 Posted by GamingMichael (104 posts) -

The knitting one is pretty bad honestly. What is this - the 1950s?

#11 Edited by Baillie (4026 posts) -

Christ, it's sarcastic. Let's get ANGRY.

#12 Posted by Kaiserreich (681 posts) -

I'm still not getting it where is the sexism?

Oh we are getting mad over silly stuff. I guess that's why I missed the offensive parts ;/

I am not angry I am just perplexed by this move especially after their swearing policy that lets you get banned very easily now. Of course it is a Joke but it is very dangerous these days to do this.

Why do you assume it's sarcastic? I see no italics.

Did I miss the edit?

Is this like that Korean airline news story?

#17 Posted by GamingMichael (104 posts) -

I'll clarify again, I do not think this was intentional or ill-willed. Just a baffling marketing decision.

#18 Posted by wjb (1621 posts) -

I guess I missed things?

#20 Posted by GamingMichael (104 posts) -

They seem to have made some edits since my OP. Kudos to them.

Wait one of the reasons people are upset is because it includes knitting? Knitting is super in due to etsy and such.

#25 Posted by GERALTITUDE (2857 posts) -

This is just dumb.

Xbox: suck farts

#27 Edited by Oldirtybearon (4515 posts) -

Microsoft cannot catch a break can they?

Not that they deserve one, of course.

#28 Posted by csl316 (7968 posts) -

If I sent that to someone, I'd kick my own ass.

#29 Posted by GaspoweR (2750 posts) -

While I don't think this was intentional, this will rub many people the wrong way.

I am quite frankly perplexed as to how this got published in its current form.

Duder, I was really surprised to have gotten a link to this via email from Xbox earlier and I gotta admit that its pretty fucking gross...I initially thought it was a sweepstakes promo to win a console but...NOPE, it's a template that you can use to convince your significant other why you should get an Xbox One. FUUUUUUUUUUUCK....

#30 Posted by GamingMichael (104 posts) -

Sorry mods about "shit" in the title... Forgot about that rule. My bad.

This is pretty dumb ;-)

Does the whole dudebro aproach Microsoft's been using work for anyone ? It just pisses me of when i see it ;-)

People getting offended by stupid things on the internet. God damn grow some thicker skin or something, this is not even news.

#35 Posted by Baillie (4026 posts) -

@darji: are you implying that I was offended?

#36 Posted by CoinMatze (469 posts) -

It's embarassing to see a giant corporation like Microsoft perpetuate these outdated stereotypes. I would feel better if it was funny at least but this is some sub Axe ad level bullshit. The idea that there are guys out there getting a chuckle out of this or even applauding Microsoft for being super daring gives me the creeps.

I'd say that I was amazed that this was approved by Microsoft's marketing department, but then again, those same people approved ads for the Surface that featured more break dancing than actual product use.

#38 Posted by GaspoweR (2750 posts) -

@hailinel: I gotta admit the break dancing with Surfaces was pretty neat. Didn't compel me to get a Surface though so...

#39 Edited by mlarrabee (2868 posts) -

Sexist, no. Stereotypic, yes.

Dumb, absolutely.

EDIT: But to be fair, this is what you asked for when you said you wanted the Microsoft of the 2005 Xbox 360 launch back again. "Get these suits away from me! Don't talk about The Cloud!"
