Poll: Which Xbox One launch title will score the highest reviews? (393 votes)

Crimson Dragon 3%
Dead Rising 3 6%
Forza Motorsport 5 87%
Killer Instinct 2%
LocoCycle 2%
Ryse: Son of Rome 2%

So, PS4 first-party launch exclusives seem to be scoring decent but not spectacular reviews right now. We have yet to see how some of the 3rd party exclusives will score--I'm personally really looking forward to Warframe--but so far it's not looking great for PS4 launch software, outside of perhaps Resogun.

Will Microsoft's launch titles see better reviews? And which of them do you feel will be the most critically acclaimed?

Probably Fortsa. It would be more difficult to pick which one will score the lowest, but I'll go with Crimson Dragon.

Forza. It's a car game from a company good at making car games.

Racing games always score highest at launch.

Forza, for sure. Solid series, good graphical showcase, Drivatar... sorry, Ryse.

But I voted Crimson Dragon because I want it to kick ass.

You forgot Zumba Fitness: World Party.

#6 Edited by bigjeffrey (5282 posts) -

Forza 5, Turn 10 makes great games. Despite the fact the cut out lots of shit.

#7 Posted by flippyandnod (572 posts) -

You forgot Zoo Tycoon.

It'll be Forza probably. Unless reviewers decide to say it isn't changed enough from previous version like they said (among other things) about CoD.

#8 Posted by MariachiMacabre (7097 posts) -

Forza, for sure. It's the only Xbox One launch game that I can say looks really good.

#9 Edited by Syed117 (407 posts) -

Forza for sure.

I don't see any of the other launch games getting 9's.

Predictions based on what we've seen so far.

Forza - 9

Dead Rising - 8

KI - 7, maybe 8

Zoo Tycoon - 7

Ryse - 7

Crimson Dragon - 7

Fighter Within - 6

Zumba - 6

Lococycle - 5

Predictions also based on nothing.

Forza hands down.

#11 Edited by BRich (477 posts) -

Forza is pretty much a guaranteed 9-9.5 across the board from reviewers. So yea.. that.

Dead Rising and Crimson Dragon are the only others that are possible 8-8.5s.

#12 Posted by leftie68 (225 posts) -

Ya dude, not even close. Forza is a beast of a series, and I doubt it will get anything below a 9. It would be a pleasant surprise to see another launch game pelt it out of the park, but for now I don't think anything will touch Forza.

#13 Posted by SuperSambo (3065 posts) -

Forza by far.

Dead Rising runs like shit and Ryse looks boring as shit.

#14 Posted by chrissedoff (2265 posts) -

Forza seems to be invincible at this point.

#15 Posted by JackBurt0n (99 posts) -

I'm going with Forza, especially if we're just talking xbox-exclusive. If we're talking multiplatform, one could make a good argument for NBA2K14, if Forza doesn't come together.

#16 Posted by shinjin977 (898 posts) -

DR3 have fps problem. Ryse is short and shallow, it will not review well. Forza is lacking in features but it will do fine. The dl games will probably be pretty decent.

#17 Posted by ReCkLeSs_X (475 posts) -

I think many of these games will be underwhelming reviews-wise, but Forza will always stand strong.

#18 Posted by Vanick (333 posts) -

I think Forza 5 is probably the safe bet here.

#19 Posted by MooseyMcMan (12325 posts) -

It's going to be Forza. The rest will (I assume) either have some technical issues (Dead Rising 3), be kinda okay at best (Killer Instinct), or outright bad (Ryse).

Where's the option for Power Star Golf? it looks fun as hell to play.

#21 Posted by FuriousJodo (160 posts) -

Forza is the easy pick, it's almost certainly the most polished/complete of the launch lineup.

#22 Posted by ottoman673 (1025 posts) -

You know, I saw a bit of Crimson Dragon at some point during Extra Life on e's stream and it looked pretty fucking goo-

...who am i kidding, Forza

#23 Posted by ProfessorEss (7863 posts) -

Dead Rising is the game I'm excited for but Forza is hella consistent with it's excellence.

#24 Posted by ShaggE (7886 posts) -

Fiveza is easily the safest bet, but I'm hoping it's Dead Rising 3 or Ryse just because I like the underdogs.

#25 Posted by MetalBaofu (1544 posts) -

Yeah, I'd be surprised if it isn't Forza.

#26 Posted by korwin (3725 posts) -

Forza, because it's fucking Forza.

#27 Edited by EricSmith (969 posts) -

I don't know why people are betting so hard against Lococycle. That game is probably going to be great.

#28 Edited by Grilledcheez (4046 posts) -

Forza because Turn 10

Forza, because they have done well in the past and there is non reason to believe they won't this time. I think most everything else will be average. If you don't like car games that makes it tough...although, some people like Dead Rising despite the fact I think those games are wearing thin.

#31 Posted by Darji (5412 posts) -

Forza easily with the higest as for lowest I will go with Ryse.

#32 Posted by hidys (1063 posts) -

Probably Forza.

#33 Posted by OGinOR (331 posts) -

Forza or Dr3 will score the highest, but Ryse will be a surprise hit. When folks who have played the game talk about combat feeling like the Arkham games, I have started to take a bit more notice...

#34 Posted by mrcraggle (2572 posts) -

Forza has done well in the past and will likely continue to score well in the future. I'm surprised people are expecting DR3 to score so well. If the performance issues are a constant throughout that game, I can see that being a big problem with a lot of reviewers regardless of anything else. I wanted to like the previous games but the structure and the way they play has just be super frustrating for me. Ryse could potentially be a surprise but a lot of early press on that game just made it seem boring but we'll have to wait and see. Crimson Dragon could score well but it's clearly a 360 title coming to the XB1, same with Lococycle and KI continues to look completely uninteresting to me which only seems to have any appeal to people who played the original.

#35 Edited by Seppli (11233 posts) -

I say Need for Speed: Rivals or Battlefield 4. Why is everybody disounting multiplatform games? As for the exclusives, Forza 5 obviously takes the cake reviews-wise. Ryse will surprise with getting favorable reviews throughout, Killer Instinct will be a fan favorite getting great scores too, Dead Rising will be a mixed bag due to its technical hiccups. I don't care for the other stuff on that list, so I won't guesstimate on those.

That pricecut can't come soon enough. Post E3-2014 or Holidays 2014 maybe? Just in time for some Halo or something.

Forza is the easy pick. The rest look like they range from middling to hot garbage and then there's Lococycle because I still don't know what the hell Lococycle is.

#38 Posted by Trace (3733 posts) -

I don't think Forza's guaranteed to score a 9, especially since I don't think its brilliant graphics will blind reviewers to the next-gen omissions like GT3 did way back when. I'd imagine it scores an 8, 8.5 overall, maybe 7.5 if there's not much beyond the Top Gear-narrated campaign and the multiplayer's been trimmed (hopefully not).

Still, from an uninformed outside glance, it's by far the most likely to score the highest.

#39 Edited by ArtisanBreads (6477 posts) -

Forza, easily. Looks great and it's going to be like 9's.

Ryse will be all over the map I think. Some will really like it, some won't. This was already the case with previews. If people think all the reviews are going to be across the board bad (which seems to be the sentiment) I think they will then be surprised.

Dead Rising 3 totally depends on how performance is. If it performs well though it will score very well. So very interested to see how it turns out.

I think Killer Instinct will score quite well. It is apparently very good.

Crimson Dragon may be good? I'm not sure really, haven't seen enough.

Lococycle, see above. Not sure about that either.

You left off Zoo Tycoon and that is apparently excellent. I think it will score very well.

#40 Posted by Whitestripes09 (627 posts) -

Forza will probably get 8's for being flashy and simple, but due to a lack of improvement game play wise except for some smarter AI, the game will probably just do ok in terms of reviews.

Ryse looks pretty generic too me so probably 6 or 7.

Dead Rising 3 will probably get 6 or 7s depending on the performance.

Crimson Dragon will probably get 7s for being too short or too generic, even though I loved panzer dragoon for it's uniqueness..

Killer Instinct will probably get good critic reviews, but users will probably hate it for being free to play.

Lococycle, I dont even know what the fuck that is.

#41 Posted by pweidman (2521 posts) -

I love the complete vote of no confidence for Ryse.

OK, I guess someone has faith. I'm still giving it a shot cuz I can't just play BF4 and Forza, now can I?

#42 Edited by Syed117 (407 posts) -

They're all crap sub HD crap. Automatic 7's AT BEST.

Xboned camera watching you poop.

NOOOO thank you!

Very nice.

I definitely keep my kinect in the bathroom facing the toilet.

When someone constantly trolls like this guy does, it makes you wonder what it takes to get banned on giantbomb.

The last info on Ryse is that it took some people 90 minutes to play through half of the chapters.

Some of the previews have been pretty positive.

At the least it sure does look gorgeous (either that or BF4 are the best looking next gen launch game to me).

Interested to see how it turns out. I'm just happy they finally showed gameplay and you could tell it was just an action game. Before that at E3 couldn't tell what the fuck was going on.

Lococycle will be GOTY

Forza will be the highest rated for sure.

The rest is an insanely mixed bag.

I really hope Dead Rising 3 is better than it seems from previews/trailers/whatever.

#47 Posted by TheManWithNoPlan (6525 posts) -

It seems we all have the same opinion that Forza will do the best critically.

#48 Posted by SpaceInsomniac (4962 posts) -

That's what I voted for. I think Dead Rising 3 will do quite nicely as well. GameTrailers has some nice 20 minute videos, and it looks pretty good.

#49 Posted by Bulby33 (675 posts) -

I think Forza 5 will be the highest rated game critically but I don't think it'll be as highly praised as I hope it will. I remember reading that they stripped a lot of features out from Forza 4, plus it's a launch game so it could launch with problems. I dunno. It looks really fucking good, though.

I hope Dead Rising 3 reviews well. It looks like a lot of fun.

Plus I hope Killer Instinct is fun since, like, Microsoft gave it to me for free and stuff.
