And it now seems to have been officially confirmed! Digital only, though, which is a little disappointing. That and it's being handled by ''Straight Right, the same team behind the Wii U version of Deus Ex: Human Revolution Director's Cut''... which... well, I didn't play any version of the Deus Ex director's cut, let alone the Wii U version. But my immediate reaction is that such a port wasn't the most well optimised if only because it was a third-party Wii U release. Hopefully this port will do fine all the same; any game that originated on the Wii U can't be too hard to develop for the current consoles & PC.

I certainly hope it will anywhoo, as I'm still currently sans-Wii U, though I've always been interested in trying out ZombiU given that it's purported to be some real old school survival horror. That, and it'll be novel to also get to explore an environment based in the UK for once, even if it's all draped in zombie-apocalypse-isms.

No word on PC going by the information that's currently out there, but really most games, especially Ubisoft ones, come out on everything these days so a PC version is almost assured.

Yeah, this would have been a good first-year release on PS4/Xb1, but seems kind of odd if it comes out next year. This year, it would probably need to release before mid-October to have any chance of not being overshadowed.

I wouldn't be surprised if the exclusivity deal with Nintendo just ran out and Ubisoft is trying to at least break even on it.

For the PS4 version at least I wonder if they'd be willing to incorporate the vita to take up the wii u's gamepad functions? Regardless, it's pretty slim pickings far as survival horror games in general go, so even if it's to lose its gamepad mechanics I'll still be willing to give it a shot.

I agree 100%, take out the gamepad stuff and what you are left with isn't particularly great or unique. Juggling the two screens is where a lot of the tension came from.

The gamepad stuff was why that game was cool. The way you are forced to experience that game because of how it is presented is the entire hook. Without that interaction it is nothing more than a zombie game that is completely unremarkable.

That's because it's actually the same name as a trashy Italian zombie movie from the 80's (edit: at least the US release was 1980) which happens to be the unofficial European sequel to George Romero's Dawn of the Dead, actually.

Honestly, without any of the Wii U gamepad gimmickery holding it up I don't think it'd be all that great (not that it was great to begin with).

Zombiu is absolutely one of the best times I've had this generation. But I fear without the gamepad it will loose much of its charm. The way you have to ping your own radar for the first few hours, barely daring to move a few feet before looking down at the map for those red dots. And that's if you've found the map at all. Daring to spend a moment digging through your rucksack for supplies only to look at the TV screen and see a couple of undead shambling towards you.

And good lord, that nursery.

The actual, palpable sense of fear that gave my arms goosebumps and my heart skip a few beats. I don't play many horror games, but that was truly unlike anything I've ever experienced in this medium before.

I only tried the demo, but I thought it was actually a pretty great, tense survival horror game. I think the gamepad did add some clever features but I don't think the lack of it would be as crippling as some are making it out to be.

If the price is right, as in $30 or less, I might be willing to give it a shot. Kinda bummed it looks like no PC release but considering it's Ubisoft that might be for the best.

i'll play it, and as long as it still has the inventory in real time, not having it on a separate screen shouldn't make much odds.

zombieU was pretty much my only reason for wanting to buy a wiiU but never did. and i dont think that the port will be all that great since the whole idea behind the game was that controller pad. but who knows

I wonder if the way they will handle the GamePad features is through some kind of picture-in-picture system where you can manage which is the primary view and which is the PIP.

The WiiU version will still probably be the version to play, but it's a good enough game that deserves to be played by more people so I support this.

Zombiu is without a doubt one of the best games of this generation. But 90% of my enjoyment from that game came from how they used the wii u gamepad to great effect at creating tension and dread.

I still have this sitting on my WiiU shelf after buying it for £8 and putting an hour in, ended up dropping it due to the load times (Same with Lego City) So I'd be happy to rebuy it on PS4 if those are cut right down.
