Ten New DLC Cars Hit Forza 3

Posted by BradNicholson (812 posts) -

More downloadable cars for Forza Motorsport 3 raced their way onto Xbox Live Marketplace this morning. The Summer Velocity Car Pack, priced at 400 Microsoft Special Bones, adds 10 additional cars to your garage. Microsoft notes that some of the cars included are rather expensive and rare. Go figure.

  • 2010 Lotus Evora Type 124 Endurance Racecar
  • 2010 Mercedes-Benz SLK 55 AMG
  • 2010 BMW Motorsport X6M
  • 2010 Morgan Aero SuperSports
  • 2009 Chrysler Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8
  • 2010 Bertone Mantide
  • 2010 Mazda Mazdaspeed 3
  • 2010 Ford Fusion Sport
  • 2010 Subaru Legacy B4 2.5GT
  • 2010 Peugeot 308 RCZ

And here's what they look like. I'm pretty sure my mom used to drive that Jeep.

This DLC update comes in a month after a minor racing game explosion. Bizarre Creations, creators of the long-time racing competitor Project Gotham Racing, dropped their new Mario Kart-style racer Blur on May 25, and Black Rock Studio's spicy and explosive vehicular combat racer Split Second hit the market on May 18.

Aren't these packs added like every other week?

#5 Posted by HadesTimes (827 posts) -

I love Forza but perhaps a new track would be a better DLC addition.  Especially with all the new racers that are out.

Maybe, but now with the current news system, you're going to hear about it, dammit!

None of these cars are appealing to me.  Forza should start releasing classic Bugattis.  I would be all over that.

Once a month actually.

Your mom may have driven a Jeep Grand Cherokee, Brad, but I imagine it wasn't the SRT8 version. The SRT models are a bit more powerful, even if they look about the same as their normal counterparts on the outside. Having just bought this car pack, I can safely say that Jeep's not too shabby in-game, either.

And besides, at least part of the community is interested in this kind of game as opposed to most of wiiware and dsiware games announced on every Bombcast there are there just for "LULZ".

Nice pack. I was kinda hoping we would see the 2010  Grand Cherokee, but this is fine for now.

The Subaru, Ford, and Lotus.  Oh HELL yeah.

... THE MORGAN!?  HOLY BALLS I DID NOT SEE THAT AT FIRST.

when the hell is the fiero going to come. :(

Cool stuff, but I wish they would add in more older cars. While I realize more than half the time that DLC cars are usually added as some sort of promotional mention to the manufacturers, there's a lot of notable cars of the past that weren't included to begin with.

For example, while it may seem silly, I'm still trying to figure out why the original VW Beetle and original Mini Cooper aren't in the game. I'd hate to blame certain cars not making it because of licensing issues, even though that is usually the most commonplace issue.

You beat me to it. I doubt she had a 420 horsepower Hemi Jeep.

I would like some normal cars at some point, a vw polo, a citroen c2, i don't know... there were enough exotic cars already.

Already downloaded cannot wait to try out the new cars tonight. DAMN WORK

Pass on this one - the only car I'm interested in is the Mantide. They need to make sure they have at least 2 supercars per pack IMO.

Still hoping for Arial Atom.

Great cars, but I'd definitely like to see more muscle cars.

Am I a monster douche for waiting for the Platinum Hits version to arrive with loads of free DLC?

Just what I needed.

Nope! I'm considering waiting for the UK version of that, called the 'Classic' version of a game over here. Normally the Classic Xbox 360 games here are cheaper, so I'm considering buying it and overlooking the fact I spent £60 on the Collector's Edition, so I can get free DLC. Although, some of the cars in this pack are interesting to me. I think we need more commonplace cars, like, the Ford Fusion shown in that OP. I still wonder where the Sierra and Escort Cosworths went - they were voted into the final cars for the Jalopnik car pack, weren't they?

meh. why? i HAVE a normal car, i dont play video games to drive a normal car, i play video games to drive Ford GTs and Italia 458s and Morgan Aeros
#32 Posted by pakx (922 posts) -
@ethan: turn 10 gifted it to me, i love it! it's ugly as sin, but i love it to bits! i was immediately going to level it to 5 then sell it for the Morgan, but i think i'll keep it.

Forza 3 was half baked when it came to the car roster when it was released.  They basically took the exact cars from Forza 2 and made them prettier.  These constant "additions" just annoy me that that they didn't include them when F3 came out last year, and yes all of these cars were available minus a couple of them.

-Don't even get me started on the in-cockpit view's lack of shifting animation or ability to look around within the car.

#34 Edited by pakx (922 posts) -
@zurichazure: no shifting animation?

also i dont understand.. you're mad because they're improving the game post release?

#35 Posted by Piranesi (452 posts) -

Ooh, more cars that look quite similar to other cars we added to a game that had quite a few cars already that to be honest didn't seem that different in the first place. Does car x go faster than car y? Can I paint it pink and put a "Hello Kitty" logo on it? If yes, then I'm good thank you.

@cikame:
i agree, i would buy some slow-ass cars (no sarcasm!), i enjoy racing slow cars against friends, so if you make even a small mistake you're probably not going to win.
